As all the others have said the choke is the answer your after.

Additional information, choke is measured in degrees of choke 1000/1" constriction from the bore size and not the muzzle. A nominal 12 bore could have a bore size of .710, .719 or.740.
The choke size is found by measuring the bore behind the choke then measure the choke bore. the difference between the two is the choke size, roughly.

Use a pattern plate to check results of choke difference.

That would be the choke.

Some guns have a fixed choke, while come have changeable choke tubes that screw in and out of the muzzle.

Chokes are measured in thousandths of an inch constriction. .005 would be the most open "cylinder" choke, while .035 and tight would be full.

There are many constrictions out there. From most open, to tightest: Cylinder, Improved Cylinder, Light Modified, Modified, Improved Modified, Light Full, Full, Extra Full, Super Full.

Each has different uses it can be applied to. Trap is usually shot with anything from Modified to Full, Skeet uses the Cylinder chokes, while hunting can vary to any of the chokes depending on the game.
