Yup something wrong with speaking up?
I just started getting into this bible and God stuff 3 weeks ago and it seems to me its the other way around. People that don't want to be held accountable for there actions try to put God and the bible down. They ask dumb *** Q's and when they get a scientific answer that shows how God is right then they shut up. I been reading and asking a lot of Q's myself and it seems that were ever I go there all on the same page. I would think I get 10,000 different answers but it seems to end up being a unity truth, oh well if I could think like God I would know all the answers and so would you.

Againstwindandtide.... I don't know.... LOL By the lead words in your question was expecting a different message content! :)
Personally, I can't say that I agree that this has only started a short time ago...
Every church that "split" formed new churches with doctrines THEY felt were the key issues of their belief...they've been "picking and choosing" since the beginning of time.
I guess you can say that I have done the same in my own walk...as a Gentile, i do not go by the dress codes, etc.,. of the Bible...excepting tatoos and piercings, that is...As long as I am neat and clean, doesn't matter if I wear slacks or a dress if I visit a church...which is rare...God doesn't look at the outside but looks at the "inside" and that's good enough for me :)
But, as to answers...I find that here in R&S, most answers by the Christians here pretty much are on the same page as everyone else. :)
Peace be with you :)
**An added thought here...and a correction to my earlier statement, which I feel obligated to say: As time passes, I have seen, as have everyone else, that "Christianity" is going the route of "one religion" just as it claims it will happen in the Bible. I take it for granted because it DOES state that that will happen, so, I ask forgiveness for not mentioning that sooner...
So, in that, I must say I agree with you. :)

First of all Christianity isnt a religion. You're right. There are many people who profess themselves to be Christians yet apply double standards for themselves. And that is WRONG. A true Christian would believe the Bible in its entirety and not pick apart what they believe to be true. But just because there are people who act that way, that doesnt mean Christianity has run amuck. It simply means that the person professing himself to be Christian yet acting like the opposite, does not really have the faith to trust in what the Word of God says. And we arent perfect, we dont have the answers for everything and we will make mistakes. And there are different denominations that take hold onto different values of the bible, (i.e. long skirts, taking hat off during prayer) but our beliefs still trace back to our faith in Christ. So you're right, we shouldnt adapt what we like with the Bible. Because thats wrong. But dont be closeminded about it. Not all of them are that way.

Since the bible has hundreds of errors, as well as dozens of internal contradictions, it is necessary to pick and choose to get anything remotely realistic or consistent. So, fragmentation is inevitable, even if there weren't differences over administrative details. Of course, this is by no means confined to Christianity; consider the Sunnis vs. the Shias.

Maybe that's why there are over 30,000 religious organizations in the whole world now and it continues to grow every day! Who knows?
Many are getting fed up being spoon fed by their father's religion that there is a seemingly massive exodus from certain mainstream religious organizations... Hard to tell.
And there are those who stick to the old school methods of indoctrination, who are now considered to be the overzealous fundamentalists, that remain blinded by what little knowledge has been imparted to them by their preachers.
It would seem only rational that the more conscientious Christian/s would gradually distance himself or herself from such un-Christian-like behavior and move on to greener pastures... without letting go of one's faith and beliefs as they embark their separate spiritual journeys.
I say good luck and Godspeed to all.
Peace be with you.

Every religion on earth is in self-serve mode and keep the money coming is their main premise.
Religions are one of the biggest contributors to the Inequality, Hatred, Prejudice, Bigotry, Pride, Bias, Discrimination etc and every other ideology that separates and divides the human race.

I think that people don't know what the word christian means. It seems nowadays that anyone who believes in god is a christian.

What's your point? Every single religion does exactly the same thing. So do politicians and actvists.
Everyone seeks to justify their positions with regard to the things they feel strongly about. Thanks for the rant though... Next time, try a question.

You really have to pick and choose from the Bible. It's not a coherent whole. In fact, it contradicts itself throughout; so in order to be consistent yourself, you're obliged to emphasize certain parts and ignore others.
