When I was like 8 yrs old and first tasted crab, like a good 2 hours later I broke out into what seems to have been huge itchy hives. Even though I did not eat much of it through out my teens if I had some crab or shrimp I'd be ok. On my 18th birthday I had lobster for the first time at some fancy shmancy restaurant and couldnt even finish up the rest of my meal because my tounge started to feel heavy and my throat was itchy. Never again have I had shelled fish again until the other night my cousin made food that had shrimp in it, I went to bed and then the next day woke up with my top lip swollen like crazy.

I don't know what to think cause sometimes i'll eat shelled fish and be ok and then other times my body goes insane. Help?

You are DEFINITELY allergic to it. Each time that you eat shellfish, your body will have a reaction that is worse than the time before (it's difficult to explain, but the basic idea is that the more you introduce something to your body that you're allergic to [i.e. shellfish or peanuts], the faster your body starts to recognize it and you will get a worse reaction). Do not eat shellfish any more!

I have a shellfish allergy and I get hives from just touching it... My friend has a shellfish allergy and he will go into anaphylactic shock if he eats it. You're relatively lucky that you had a "mild" reaction the first few times you've tried it, but don't eat it again because it WILL get worse! Good luck with everything!

Get yourself to a doctor and tell them what you told us. You may need to carry an Epi-pen in case you accidentally ingest it and go into anaphalaxis .

You should also tell your pharmacist about it because some medications are made with shellfish, as are some OTC (over the counter) supplements.

That is really strange. I would avoid eating shellfish, you could have a serious reaction. Better to be safe than sorry!

It sounds like you do have an allergy. I hate to tell you this- but unless you have a death wish, you'll have to forgo seafood for the rest of your life.

They probable could desire to do it by way of fact they're getting you cash so as that they could desire to tell you! tell them it merely occurs once you sniff your guy or woman fart! :P
