I have been in the USAF for 11 years, so let me tell you how it really works.
Yes, you get 30 days of leave per year, or as others said 2.5 days per month.
You will need to project/ask for leave in advance to ensure not to many people are asking for/on leave at the same time.
If to many people have already projected/asked for leave ahead of you for a certain time frame then your leave will be denied in order to meet mission requirements.
You can only ask for as much leave as you have earned, if you ask for more days of leave than you have earned then you must have a pretty good reason (death in the family, family emergency, ect...)
Depending on what job you have the USAF most weekends should be free, but that does not mean you can go home. The USAF has what is called a "local area" policy, this is established by the squadron commander, for example when I was stationed in TX the local area included anywhere within 8 hours of the AFB but excluded mexico. If your home town is within your "local area" then you can go there on your days off. If you choose to break the rules and go outside of the local area without taking leave you can be charged with Article 92 of the UCMJ; Failure to Obey a direct order or regulation, furthermore if you get injured while outside the local area and you are not on leave the military will not pay for the injury/life insurance in the event you die.
Pending your squadrons missions a lot of units shut down for christmas/new years letting the members choose which 2 weeks they will not have to work (either christmas or newyears) but the same rules apply as far as leaving the local area, you can have two weeks off for FREE, as long as you stay in the local area, if you leave the local area, you must be on Leave.
Hope this helps.
If you have any more questions go to http://www.e-publishing.af.mil/ and search in the Long Title section for LEAVE, you will find the Air Force Instruction that covers Leave.

Hey man I just got out of the air force after a 4 year enlistment. You earn 2.5 days per month, which comes out to be a month worth of leave per year. Its alot. You can usually take it whenever you want, as long as your commander allows you to. They always allow you to do it unless they need you for some reason so getting leave isnt a hard thing to do. But right when you join you go to boot camp (cant take any leave) for about 7 weeks and then to a technical school (for about 5-26 weeks depending on what you do, some are more) and you cant take leave during those times either. And by that time you will be on your own somewhere with a bunch of new friends and the you probably wont have much of a desire to go home anyway. I ended up saving a ton of leave for the end and just got out of the air force a couple months early. Anyways, its a great career choice, good luck.

You will get 30 days vacation a year (2.5 days per month). When you can take them depends on the unit you work with and if they will allow you. Most places will let if there is nothing important going on that will require you to be there. During holiday seasons vacations are expected and rarely are they denied.
Also, if your home is near the base you will be stationed, you can visit on your time off during the weekend and holidays. In the military, you do get time off, you will not work 24/7 every year of your service, and you can even get time off outside your vacation time (for example permission by the Commander to grant a 4 day weekend, special requests, etc). Just be smart, do not try and take too much time off (makes a bad impression). Put in some work, get to know your job/unit, and be respectful... it all goes along way in the military.

You will get 30 days of leave per year, and you can choose when to take leave. Keep in mind that your leave request may be denied for a specific time, but you WILL get 30 days per year. For example, I could not take leave while on deployment on a submarine, but we got a couple weeks stand down (only come to the boat on your duty days) after a deployment which did not count as leave. In 2006, I took the month of May off, and I usually took 2 weeks of leave over the holidays.

Well Like the above says you get 30 days of leave a year. I don't really know how it works in the AF but in the Marines you have to put in a request for leave and get it approved thru Chain of Command. You will usually get the weekends depending on your job and usually a 96 on all federal holidays.

entirely dependent on your commands schedule. you will earn leave at a rate of 2.5 days per month, 30 days per year. generally speaking, you will have some time off between finishing school and reporting to your first duty station, and between every duty station. other chances to take leave will depend on many factors, including manning levels, mission requirements and whether or not you have earned any leave.
If school happens to fall during the Holidays, you will get one week then as well, mandatory.

Depends on a lot of factors. Generally, the schedule of a military members is very restrictive. Depending on what specialty you get into and what command (ACC, AMC, AETC, AFSOC etc) your schedule would differ, at times very dramatically. Deployments are a fact of life, the Air Force has worked on what is called AEF rotations, designed to deploy you for 4 months every 12 to 18 month cycles (depending on how many squadrons are in that particular rotation). So you're deployed during Xmas, you're SOL. So I you're considering the military I would forget about being able to make important dates all the time. You can always request leave and chance it, but if you're going enlisted I wouldn't count on having much approved, particularly for dates where EVERYBODY would want to take off like holidays. Good luck.

You will earn 30 days per year. two and half days 2.5 per month. 2.5 x 12 = 30. You are in for 4 years, thus you will have 120 days. Talk to your recruiter.

join the corps -- its better
you get a month per year vacation. you begin accruing the day you show up for your boot camp (if the air force has such a thing). you can go home for all of that, probably not all at once. you will probably get some 3 and 4 day weekends on rare occasions. if you are stationed close to home you might even get to go home on weekends. if you are in one of the mos's that is needed for iraq and afghanistan operations then things will obviously be less amenable to you going home on a frequent basis.even if you get a remf job you might end up in korea or germany or somewhere. you should consider this before you sign up.
