I'm moving out to LA in 2 weeks and I want to know if this is a good area to live. The address is:
1003 S. Sierra Bonita Ave.
Los Angeles, CA 90019

On craigslist it says its the miracle mile. Is it? What can anyone tell me about this area? Thank you.

I'm working on Avenue of the Stars which is only 3 or 4 miles away. Nothing terrible. I don't care if I'm close to the beach or not. I just want to live in a safe part of town and possibly a place that might have some nightlife within walking distance/maybe some shops too.

It's a cool area!No Need to worry about the south central, gang bang stuff you see on t.v!LOL! Bad thing is night life and shops are NOT in walking distance! It is a laid back residential area. Good thing is there is a bus that runs down Olympic and can lead you to other areas, or buses that can take you to shops/nightlife. Night life in L.A. is Hollywood, Downtown, Near the beach, etc.. You NEED a car in this city! Good thing is everything is 10-15 minutes away from your new spot! Except traffic will make it WAY more during rush hours! But at night, your cool!
Your most likely working in Century City,(A upper middle class to richpart of town! )which is cool, because you can ride the Olympic bus all the way down there.

It's hard to answer your question unless you tell us where you will be working, and what kinds of things you like to do. Since the city is so big and spread out, and traffic is terrible, you should choose a place to live that minimizes your commuting time. And you also should think about what types of neighborhoods you like: in LA you can find places near the beach, in the hills, in more city-like areas, or more suburban areas. So what is your pleasure?

Based on your additional comments, I would say you have chosen a very central, convenient location. But most things in that area are not really within a comfortable walking distance, unless you really like to walk. If you want a lot of stores and restaurants within walking distance, I would suggest looking at something closer to Melrose or Beverly in the same area. Those are major shopping streets. Olympic is more residential.

"Miracle Mile" is a good, but somewhat overpriced, area. It refers to a mile-long stretch of Wilshire Blvd, mostly high-rise apartment buildings and offices. It's nice, but you could probably find more for your money.
