I recently received a Copy of my credit Report and I noticed that i have an outstanding collection with Verizon... This is my telephone service provider, I don't understand why if i have always made my payments on time, and currently receiving service, how can I compalin about this and how do i clear out of my credit report, I called the collection agency and they said to make the payment and then dispute, that's dumb to do do but will it be the best bet?

Send a letter to the collection agency disputing this, and demand that they validate the debt.

Also include a note about what this collection agent told you about paying first......and inquire what address to send your lawsuit to.

What a laugh...why can't I get these types of errors on my report?

It happened to me too . . .
I lived 400 miles from where the crook opened the account and from all indications . . .
They were using old college records to get names and SS numbers . ( I guess the clerks there are underpaid and crooks probably give them $$ for the info )

Some cell phone sales people are too anxious for commissions and don't check ID , they just want to rack up the sales numbers .
Get the specifics of when & where the account was opened and report it to your police as ID theft .
Show them your ID and that you never lived at the place that shows where the account was opened (and you did not open it) .
Send a copy of the police report to the cell phone company and the credit bureau notifiying them of the ID theft .

good luck !

AND FYI - all collection agencies say pay then dispute ,
That is how they get their commission !
I laughed at them , never had to pay and the credit bureau corrected the posting .

Connect with the company and show documentary proof that payments were made. Have the company clean up their acts instead.

you need to dispute it. DO NOT PAY THEM or it will be harder to remove. you can dispute for free, and you can send them letters.
call the credit bureaus and say it's fraud.
they will verify this account for you.
if you want to do it online you can go to my profile and it shows step by step dispute process
