Atheist "propaganda"? Like what? Too much humanitarian activity? Too many people with values and morals who don't only do good because their religious tract sometimes tells them too? Are we taking over the schools by saying "Hey, a comparative religion course is fine but to teach one of tens of thousands of religions as if it is truth is absurd?' Are you talking about the atheists marching in gay pride parades because they believe in equal rights for all? Or the ones who say that the laws of antiquity simply do not apply in these times? The independent freethinkers - they're the worst. Always free and thinking and... independent. And you know those scientific atheists. Repeating over and over that scientific theory is made up of proved facts and thousands of years of analysis? Those atheists drive me crazy! "No!" I always say to them. "The universe is huge! With my limited knowledge all I can say is that, hey, if an artist creates a drawing then SOMEONE must have created the world, and who can that be? Why, GOD, of course! Why look into reality when I can fight to keep my fantasies alive?"
It's difficult to believe you're tossing about phrases like "atheist propaganda" and yet seem to be saying you're not religious. Why would I "fight" people to keep them from preaching at me? I'd rather attempt to educate them from the beginning about the difference between faith and reality. I have faith that my sock will fly. I also have faith that I'll see my girlfriend tomorrow. Hey, the latter will probably come to fruition - why? Because it's at least SOMEWHAT based in reality. Yet she made need to work overtime or drop by a relative's home, or a hurricane may keep us from reaching one another. Don't you see? Why fight someone who preaches their faith at me? I can't tell them that they're right or wrong and getting violent would be beyond useless. What did you think, that all the atheists would shout "Yeah, yeah, I'll fight 'em to the death!" so that you could say - "See! You are violent people!" It doesn't work that way. We're not all pacifists either - but I couldn't imagine one who would actually kill a fanatic for just preaching at them. I'll tell you this much - you show me a country where atheism caused a civil war and I'll show you God. There is a religious division in EVERY country because there are about a hundred thousand different religions practiced throughout the world. I have no desire to "fight" your faith or anyone else's. I simply ask that you keep your religious doctrine and agenda out of my laws and stop trying to deny human beings their civil and inborn rights. The Bible condones & even encourages slavery, but do most of us do it? Scary thing is, a large number of religious people would gladly do it again if they could get rid of democracy. Because hey, who are the gays? Or the blacks? Or anyone not like themselves? They're not good enough, right, because they don't think like you, or you, or you? Is that the mentality you believe should be running this nation or any other? How is it exactly that a peaceful people who choose not to believe in God is threatening to you, or any religious person for that matter? Morality exists without God. Look at the countries with the most atheists - Finland, Holland, Norway, etc. Do you have any idea how far ahead of America they are socially and economically? How much their schools are?
If you want a fight, give a cause. I would fight for equal rights, for children's rights, for food for the hungry but I certainly don't need a rifle or a sword or a bomb to do it. I'd rather work on the problem with those experiencing it then trust a corrupt government to do it for me. Volunteer, be humane. That about covers it.

Atheists are NOT the ones spewing "propaganda"! And they aren't the ones starting wars over whose "god" is the "real" one! Most atheists are into making things better for their families, themselves and humanity by ELIMINATING fighting and wars over that garbage!
The only way I'd fight is if a totalitarian state INSISTED I or my family abide by some state religion....hmmm...it could happen if we let the fundamentalists keep calling the shots in Washington! That's why we need to RESTORE Separation of Church and State.
I don't care what you believe...just don't foist it on me!
Addendum: Kudos to my fellow atheists (most of them) for NOT getting violent, like so many theists assume they would (they're better pacifists than I am)! ("Takes one to "know" one", I guess?). The number of atheists who said fighting is stupid, and their RATIONAL approach to this question, should lay this issue to rest...but we all know that won't happen anytime soon!

No way.
The US is a beautiful country. I've lived here all my life, have served in the military and have been a military wife for almost 18 years. But, I will not fight a war over religion. If it ever came to that, I would go somewhere that is more open to atheists. I would give up my citizenship without hesitation and seek a place (Sweden perhaps?) where peace and acceptance were more powerful than intolerance and dogmatic faith.

Fight to stop people from preaching? LOL. Don't be ridiculous... that's what a pie-in-the-face is for. Fight to stop Christian 'dominionists' from overthrowing the Constitution, and turning the USA into a theocracy? You bet!

No way! While it's true there are some things I consider worth fighting for, avoiding obnoxious preachers is below the bottom of the list.
What atheist propaganda? Where? I'd love to see it.

"... this can cause a division that would cause a civil war in a country."
Thanks for implicitly threatening us for exercising our right to free speech. It won't work.
To answer your question: no, not to stop the preaching, but you can certainly expect us to become even more vocal in our opposition to irrational claims. Our numbers are growing, of late, and will continue.

So you are saying that for us to believe the way that we believe, it would cause a civil war? Hilarious! Hey, if I have to defend my constitutional rights, sure I'll fight.

How do you define "atheist propaganda", merely expressing a point of view different from yours? How does that threaten you?

I would not use violence to stop someone from talking. I would rather a) walk away, b) argue with them, or c) fight them in a non-violent way if necessary.
