He'll only sleep for about 15-30 minutes, then wakes up shrieking. He wants to be held all the time, which is fine, but none of us has slept for days; I took him to his Dr yesterday, and he did a blood test and everything was normal. I even went to the ER last night because I was so worried. he has no fever, no skin rash, no bug or animal bites, nothing. The ER doc said he might have a severe stomachache causing all this. He falls asleep throughout the day, which is weird, and is generally just not himself. Anyone have any ideas about what this could be? Thanks

At first I thought it sounded like Lymes disease. But there are other things it could be too; Encephalitis, Anemia or it could be a thyroid problem. I would get a second opinion at a childrens hospital. Or even another doctor. The sooner you find out the better you all will be. I hope the best for your son.

Maybe it's night tremors, my daughter has them. She will wake up and act all out of it just screaming on top of her lungs, I notice that she isn't fully a wake when it happens, and when she has them the next few days are behavior is off and I think it's from the lack of sleep. This is just a possibility, if not it could be gas or something.

I would talk to a doctor about sleep terrors. They are rare but usually start as a small child and eventually grow out of them as a teen. Make sure NOTHING else could be wrong if he can't tell you whether or not he is in pain. I don't know how controlable they are but they should be able to give him something at least to help him sleep longer.

personally i think you should go to a specialist if it doesnt stop within the next few days. i read this chicken soup once and this little girl kept complaining and complaining and crying and the doctors said it wasnt anything and it was just a "phase" and I DONT WANT TO SCARE YOU! but she ended up being really really sick and almost died...........you can find it on chickensoup.com i think...but yea...i would say go to a specialist or something

you need to check with another doctor, this isn't right and something is either phsyicaly or mentally wrong. Don't just listen to one doctor keep looking till someone figures this out. Good luck

That sucks! Maybe he is getting a lot of gas building up and that is causing stomach pain, though I see that more often with babies. Try giving him gas medication. And demand better help from his pediatrician, they shouldn't blow you off when your child is suffering so badly.

I would take him to your nearest children's hospital. Blood tests do not pick up everything.
