Whether or not a college degree is required will be a state by state basis and I would guess that perhaps some jurisdictions could require it.
Peace or Police Officers are one in the same; however there are some Law Enforcement Officers that have a preference.. most would not care.
Corrections Officers are usually called Corrections, Jailers or Deputies something along those lines.
All Law Enforcement wants to keep the peace; however when you get to the Federal level the most typical title would be Agent.
I hope this helps.
I wish you well!

Peace Officer is a more general classification.
Police Officer is a Peace Officer who works in a jurisdiction such as a city as compared to a Sheriff's Deputy who generally works in the County.
Corrections Officer is a Peace officer also but works in a correctional facility like a jail, prison, or penitentiary.

In Ohio Police Officers are peace officers. A peace officer is a term in written law to define all law enforcement officers (State Troopers, Police Officers, Deputy Sheriffs, Park Rangers, etc). All are peace officers in Ohio.

A peace officer is not a police officer and is not a detention officer. A peace offcie is a reference to a person that is certified by the state as an officer that upholds the laws of the state. A detention officer is typically referred to as that.
