If I use a magnet to hold a small clock into a book will it affect the clock?

That depends on the clock. Often times, clocks will be labeled as "waterproof" or "water resistant" and also include the word "anti-magnetic."
If the internal parts of the analog clock are made of a magnetic material, a relatively strong magnetic field could very well affect its accuracy by presenting an unbalanced load against the clock spring. A non-magnetic stainless steel is usually used - but not always.

I once worked in a plac where i would use a stong magnetic field to heat metal components,i found one day my wrist watch was about 2 hours too fast after using this equipment, it was a cheap analog type watch, i wouldnt trust a good watch near a strong field, and if you got a bad ticker(heart) stay clear of them as well

Probably not, because most of the parts are probably non magnetic. But I wouldnt do it with an expensive clock.

Staying away because of a bad heart would only be relevant if you had a pacemaker.
