I love both but if you are planning to get one think about your lifestyle. If you live by yourself, I'd get a cat. If you don't live by yourself and have enough support to take care of a dog, get a dog.

I had always had a dog since I was born but I live on my own now. I go to work for 8-10 hours a day, sleep for 8 hours, which does not leave much time to give the attention the a dog deserves. So I got a cat. My cat is just as loyal and as friend as my past dogs.

I love both dogs and cats. But when it comes to ownership, I prefer cats since you can leave cats alone all day while you're working. As long as they have fresh food and water and a clean litter box, they will be fine for a long while. The same is not the same for dogs. They need to be walked and usually get a bit more ansy and destructive when they are left alone at home for too long.

I prefer cats they make better pets than dogs but I also like dogs. Cats are just more cuddly and don't run away. Cats are actually trainable it just takes more time than a dog. My cat is trained! He knows sit, stay, and come!
You have to put dogs out every day and listen to them cry and bark all the time. Dogs eat more and are more costly to care for.

I like them both. Though I don't have a dog at this time, I still like them; I do however have six cats.
I find cats absolutely irresistable. There's something almost magical or otherworldly about them. I also like the fact that they do as they wish and don't depend on humans to elevate their self-esteem!
Additionally cats are the cleanest animals in the world; they're small and easy to accomodate; they can be left alone for the day without worry; and that have that whole cuddling-and-purring thing down. And they are SO much smarter than dogs... What's not to like? :)

Totally a dog person. Dogs are friendlier, more loving. Plus you get great exercise taking them out. We have a brindle pit bull name Lady ***** Tipsy Von Poopenburg, who sleeps in our bed with us, takes me for 3 long walks a day (I've lost 30 pounds) and is very generous with kisses! She is great with my grand kids who love her very much and I can't imagine waking up without her! I like larger breed dogs, I think the smaller breeds look like rats. My motto is if you're gonna have a dog, have a real dog not a little plaything to carry around in your purse. My parents have a Boston Terrier who has to go to the vet for some mysterious ailment every week. Right now she has a torn ACL! She has to drink bottled water or she'll puke, a certain kind of food or she gets constipated, it's an endless list, almost like taking care of a human baby!

I don't have a huge problem with dogs, but I'd take a cat anyday. They are so more more loveable and cuddly. Not to mention quiet, independent, and a lot cleaner!

But it mainly depends on which animal fits your personality.

Dogs, because they aren't so independent and it's easier to train a dog than a cat. Plus, dogs learn more tricks. Cats just stink up the area their kitty litter is in. Lol. I love dogs and plan to have lots when I'm older. Lol. Cats are just boring. Only once in a while their fun.

dogs,

they are not psycotic like cats
they dont need to be declawed
there bites wont cause nasty infections
you cant get 'cat scratch fever' from them

i really hat cats since i got my kitten, he has been the worst cat i have ever had, i have 3 cats, and i love 'em all after i got them declawed, but they all have herpes (thanks to the kitten from a farm) so i have to give 'em meds every day and all this crap cats can get. they seem to be more of a pain and more expensive then dogs to take care of.

oh and you have to clean a litter box..........yuck!
