Did Joseph Smith marry Helen Mar Kimball and, if so, did he have sex with her, or did he hold off on that?

I give you a civil answer to your question as I am a descendant of Joseph Smith, Jr. He married Helen Mar Kimball in May 1843, in Nauvoo, Illinois, but in my genealogy performed thus far, I am unaware of any children born to that union.

It is common knowledge that many of Joseph's wives were sealed to him, and in many cases, their marriages were not consummated as we usually do.

Believe as you will, but plural marriage was not instituted in Joseph Smith's time so he could satisfy any lustful intentions.

You can look up on that on wikipedia...They got sealed for time and eternity yes marriage, but she lived the rest of Joseph Smith days at home...her parents home...No evidence they ever had sex. They mostly got married so the families Smiths and Kimballs can be sealed together.
A family sealing which was done a lot in the Nauvoo period and Early Utah period. Joseph Married wives who already had husbands so the family can be sealed to the prophets family.

As stated above, it is unsure whether they had sex.

However, Fanny Alger (also 14 at the time of their alleged marriage) served as a maid in the Smith house for several years, and rumors were started that they were having an affair. One day, Emma Smith found Alger and Joseph "in the act" of intercourse and banished sweet little Fanny (no pun intended, for you British readers) from the home. Later, when the polygamy revelation was finally produced, Smith claimed to have known about the principle "as early as 1831" and used it to cover the Alger affair, as well as one other alleged affair.

Smith's reputation for treating the ladies to more than the gospel started right after the church was organized. Groupies are always attracted to charismatic characters, and the rumor may or may not be based on how the other 'elders' felt about not getting any of the 'good time religion' they thought Smith was.

The conditions were right, his demeanor was right, and Smith's later 'revelations' seem to solidify the idea that he had more than superficial relations with any of his 'devotees'.

Yes they did marry. Against her wishes. Joseph Smith died in Carthage Jail a year later.
There is no evidence, pro or con, for sexual relations. One cannot prove that there were sexual relations; and one cannot prove that there were no sexual relations.
After a year? I think it unlikely, but you never know....Smith did, after all have 34 other wives, he might have been busy..
