The dictionary says "good" is to be "morally excellent." Let s look at God s moral standard the Ten Commandments, and see how we do. Is God first in your life? Do you love Him with "heart, mind, soul and strength?" Have you made a god to suit yourself? Have you used His name in vain? Have you always honored your parents? Have you looked with lust and therefore committed adultery in your heart? Have you lied (including "fibs"), stolen (the value is irrelevant), or coveted other people s possessions? If you are honest, you know you will be guilty on the Day of Judgment. God, however, doesn t want to send you to Hell. Jesus Christ suffered and died on the Cross, so you could go free. That s how much God loves you. We broke God s Law, but Jesus took our punishment and died on the cross. He then rose from the grave defeating death. If you repent (turn away from all the things you know are wrong) and trust in Him, God will forgive your sins and grant you everlasting life. Begin by reading your Bible daily and then obey what you read. God will never let you down.

Noone is ever good enuff for God, we are inperfect. ONly by the blood of Jesus are we saved. This gift is free. But there are conditions to holding on to the gift. God tells us that we must love Jesus, confess our sins and turn from them, ask Jesus into our hearts, and then leave sin and live like Jesus. IF we dont think like Jesus or act like Him, we arent really His and never were. We arent perfect . But when we will love God and obey Him, He will see us as perfect and called us HIS redeemed and we will be saved. we cant say we love GOd and act like the world. God forbid. And we can live like Jesus to, as God commanded us to and He wouldnt command us to do something impossible. And by the indwelling of the HOly Spirit and stayin in obedience, we recieve the full blessings of God to overcome. saying no to sin isnt hard when you are Gods, as sin as as vile to you as it is to God. PPl today grace will cover all continued, deliberate willful sin, but Bible says GOD FORBID to that. We must trust God and we dont show love or trust if we wont live as God says You are correct, pray continually, study the Holy Word daily and not just read it. Study to know and pray and ask God for revealtion adn then obey what He tells you, and you will know your salvation is assured. Jesus paid the price and we have victory already if we will say YES to the free gift and the conditions for holding on. great question. God will bless you.

None of us deserve to go to heaven. If we could get there on are own, Jesus would have not had to do what he did for us.

There is not one that is good, but thanks be to our Lord Christ Jesus, we are made clean through his blood and healed by his stripes. (John 14:6) Jesus said " I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. We need not only to read the word daily, we also need to develop an relationship with God lead by the Holy Spirit who has been sent to us after Christ had ascended. For Jesus also said that after he was gone to be with the Father the Helper / Comforter ( Holy Spirit ) would come to be with us.
It's that very Spirit within us that transforms us to be more Christ like, and to have an relationship with God. We will always have Sin in our members, the difference being now we are not a slave to it. Read Romans Paul goes into great detail on this matter. Believe me when the Holy spirits starts on your heart, you will hate Sin and your ears will be open to God. For Jesus said I am the good Sheppard and MY sheep will know My voice.
Christianity is more then a religion, its a way of life in fact our western society has been founded on it. unfortunately Man has made it into what meets his comfort and desires, in this has given Christians a bad name, and people will be lost because of it. So its more then just a matter of how good you are to go to heaven, for many will say Lord, Lord let us in and he will say depart from me for I never knew you. Read (Matt 7:20-23) This alone says its about relationship and the fruit you bear.
God Bless

You could never be good enough..and that's why Christ came. The wages of sin is death and He paid the penalty for you, for me, for everyone. We are saved by grace, through faith, so that no one can boast. We are not saved by works, or by being good.

"If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved." Romans 10:9

GlitterSno75, God did not create hell for people. He created it for the devil and the angels that rebelled with him. Unfortunately, he has deceived many into following him. When God made Adam, He made him good. Adam had the freedom to choose to obey or disobey God. Adam is the one who rebelled. God did not make him rebel and God is not responsible for Adam's rebellion.

Like Adam, God has given every one of us the choice to either serve Him and live with Him in His kingdom forever, or serve the devil and live with him forever. But we make that choice. God doesn't.

God is just and does what is right. Therefore, sending people to hell is the right thing to do, especially when we understand that God is eternally holy and those who sin against God incur an infinite offense because the infinite God is the one who is offended.
Bible simply tells us that people will go to hell. They go there because they are not covered by the sacrifice of Christ. And that is because they refuse to trust in Him and obey Him. And sinners must be punished; otherwise, the holiness and righteousness of God mean nothing.

For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith, and this not from yourselves. It is the gift of God. Not by works, so that no one can boast. Ephesians 2:8,9

Get saved.... Romans 10:9 and then be good and follow the word of God.

you cant get to heaven by doing good things. you get to heaven by believing and trusting in Jesus, that he died for your sins adn that he rose again, conquering death adn that you can have a personal relationship with him. good deeds comes out of loving God and wanting to do what God would do. When you really love God, the urge to do good things comes naturally.

"Jesus Christ suffered and died on the Cross, so you could go free. That s how much God loves you"

Does not sound like he loved Jesus very much, does it? If God does not want to send anyone to hell, then why have such a place to send people to begin with? How is this morally excellent? There is nothing moral about sending your child to die or to have a place of such punishment for unruly children.

Morally excellent? I hope so, for our corrupt society is in need of men and women who are both moral in the true definition of the word--kindness, generosity, truth, looking after fellow humans--and also excellence. But, honestly, I shouldn't devote a heck of a lot of time to worrying about 'heaven.' Believe in that old voyeur in the sky if it gives you comfort, but for gosh sake do not torture yourself with fear and guilt and the other holy myths. Live!

Amen.

Because of the blood of Christ, our Father is able to look at us and see us just as He's sees His Son Jesus.
