You need to hook it to a big ol relay near the battery. You can use ignition 12 volts from the fuse panel to activate the relay. That'll keep you from killing the battery if you leave the amp on.

connect it directly to the battery but u need to put a fuse on the wire that connects to the battery its a special fuse that u can find at an auto zone the fuse is so that the amp wont suck all the power out of the battery

Which fuse? You mean the one that operates your air bag?

Never connect the main power lead of an amp to anything inside the cabin. Go straight to the battery or at least a junction box in the engine compartment that has a large gauge connection back to the battery. This is sufficient for most smaller amps.

You're in trouble, my friend. Your question kind of shows that you don't have a clue what you're doing. I'm not saying this to be mean, but you may want to seek professional help with this project.

Having said that - an amplifier needs to be connected DIRECTLY to the battery through a dedicated fuse. Which fuse are you talking about?

fuses do NOT prevent battery drain, they prevent fires.
YOu need wires of the correct type , size and current rating.
you need an inline fuse
the fust must be as close to the battery as possible.

you should get help , if you do not know how to do this job.
if you do it wrong , a fire.
if you do it wrong , your resale value is reduced because car looks hacked.
(first thing I look for is electrical hacking , especial after market alarms )

try no to butcher the battery cables , putting it in . like most do.

dude always alway and always connect the amp to battery direct thats why they have switch and use 0 gage cable and if you have a CAP then get a cable direct from the battery into the cap and then into the amp other then that power always from battery.
