room?? It has to be the most annoying thing ever. My dad does it all the time, as well as interrupts you mid sentence. Is he just a moron or what?

YES. I had someone do this to me repeatedly - it drove me up the wall. Then he had the nerve to get annoyed at ME if I couldn't hear him properly.
Here's what I did: I ignored him - pretended like I didn't hear a single word he said. When he'd come into the room and ask "Why didn't you answer?" I'd say "Answer what?"
He learned that its less trouble to get off his butt and come and address me directly than it is to have to repeat himself constantly.
This technique works - and its non-confrontational.

You can either not respond and make him come to you, saying you didnt hear. OR you can drop everything, run into where he is and say' Oh Im sorry Dad I heard you talking but couldnt hear what you said exactly. Can you repeat it please' I know that is being overly condescending but perhaps he will get a clue. I think I like the first suggestion since you probably dont want to be running to him all the time

My husband does to me ALL the time! I end up asking him to repeat what he is saying. Then, he shouts!

I have co-workers who do this, too. I end up saying, I can't hear you clearly when you wander into another room.

As for your dad, I don't think he's listening. He's waiting for you to slow down or stop. He has something to say and doesn't seem willing to wait until your done.

I am not sure what to tell to do about that. Perhaps, say, "Dad, I have not finished. Please wait until I'm done, then, I'll answer your question." It will probably work the first one or two times.

Good luck. Hang on to your patience. ;)
I'm with ya, pal!

Yes and I really hate it when someone turns their head away and talks. Then they expect an answer...as if I could hear them.

It is one of the most rude conversation no-no's to interrupt when someone is talking. I hate that!

That is annoying, agree. You'll notice that usually the only people who do this are your family members, meaning they have gotten lazy with their manners. It's actually a pretty rude thing to do.

I'm so guilty of doing this.

yes I do hate that- my kids do it all the time-and so does my husband. So when you are grown up with a husband and kids look forward to more of it. I usually scream at them that I can't hear them and then they come in- LOL. What is even more annoying though is when they come in and almost whisper. I hate that...

It's not that bad. I do it, and when people do it to me I don't mind. It's only bad when you can't hear them. And I hate to be interrupted, that has to be on my list of the top 5 rudest things to do.

Yeah, I don't like to be shouting from one room to another..... my mom also has this AWFUL habit of listening to the radio at top volume, so when you come in the kitchen and want to talk to her you (and her, too) have to shout to hear each other...... sucks!!! I really hate it.

It is ignorant and a little lazy, but as I'm as guilty of it as anyone else I'll say nothing more about it!
