Whether it is right or wrong should be a personal choice; unadulterated by religion. If it makes you sad to think about aborting a fetus then don't have an abortion. Pretty simple and no harm done.
Many bad choices have been influenced by religion.
Think about it, if you get pregnant and don't have an abortion because of your religion (but you totally would get the abortion otherwise), bringing an unwanted child into this world not only adds to overpopulation but isn't fair to the child either.
Make pro-life or pro-choice your OWN choice. Not the choice of some abstract idea called God that you will never see.
EDIT: Grammar/spelling
PS - Anyone who is saying abortion is wrong has probably never been faced with the choice themselves. And potential lives don't mean jack. When was the last time someone was born who grew up to do something extraordinary? Most people live their lives, feeding off of Earth's resources and leaving only destruction in their wake.

Firstly its interesting to note... The anti abortion groups and relgions tend to be ones that are sexisit, see females as nothing more them mothers and or property of males.
Who seem obsessed with mulitplying their numbers ergo against ALL forms of sex ed, artifical contraception, sex for pleasure and affection, or empowering females (ie lap dancing) Much of which would reduce the need for abortions. Likewise against gays. All of which have the notion in common that they dont want anything to get in the way of baby prduction
As an athiest I think logically, rationally, dont believe in Souls or anything specail.
So For me the prioity is the actual life and qaulity of the life of the living... not the potential person to be which at conception and untill very well developed a good 5 months or so would regard a foetues mush like sperm or a period.
The life of the girl is what matters, her health, her well being, her future quality of life.
We don't need more people there are too many already so I would only say a girl should have a baby when she is truely readdy with a stable inclome, home and relationship to help her bring up the kid.
After she has done all her studies, adventures around the world, had her social life, done all she wants to, has experienced life, learned from others and developed opinions on how to bring up kids based on experience and what happend to others.
Plus as parenting goes into 20s supporting kids through college, uni and some time after then it helps to have had that single life as well.
A female is not a walking baby production pod.
Likewise I would say take into account what kind of the life kid would have if born. Any disabilities to be taken into account, any deformities. And not just in childhood. you have to look at teenage hood and how awful a deformed kids life would be if it cannot find love with the opposite sex and things like that. On top of the missing body parts that will have its life in pain and dying soon after birth.
If its the mother of the baby... I choose the mother.
And also poverty is a factor... In the third worl many cannot cope with affording more children abandoning them to be child prostitutes or worse or sold into slavoury and things like that. Abortion would be far more preferable as would ending up being born to awful estates of junkies and gangs detined to be gang victems or members.
So Quality of life for a potential kid and the mother is the prioity
Likewise I fully support euthanasia, can accept suicide for some is better then any awful life they have and would support say someone who had been utterly in love with somone since childhood not wanting to continue life or not want to contrinue after severe burns or crippling.

I'm an atheist, and I consider abortion to be wrong in SOME CASES.
There are justifiable reasons for abortion, such as if the mother's (or child's) life is in danger by being pregnant, or if the expectant mother was impregnated by rape.
I do not consider "I didn't wear a condom" or "I don't want children" justifiable reasons. In either case, there is ALWAYS someone willing to adopt if you can simply put up with carrying it for the full term.

i come across its a complicated subject remember. the argument is "o you're purely removing a gaggle of cells" yet while does the toddler end starting to be a gaggle of cells? is it nonetheless "a gaggle of cells" till the day its born? had it been born 2 days previously could that make it ok to easily kill the toddler? now for sure you won't be able to abort a baby it extremely is due day after right this moment. legally its someplace around 24 weeks i think of. ok possibly maximum babies wouldnt stay to tell the story at that factor yet interior the information there became right into a baby born at 22-3 weeks (or approximately there) for sure and the medical doctors refused to help this baby who became into alive via fact it were born previously the abortion cut back off factor so they weren't allowed to do something. thats unfavorable a baby born early became into refused help via fact different individuals prefer to option to abort their baby. the subject is while does existence initiate? if there became right into an on the spot factor the place let's imagine bam existence starts here then possibly there could be much less argument approximately abortion. you here horror memories approximately abortions and hear approximately babies crying as quickly as they have been aborted. additionally i watched the silent scream now im nonetheless keen to enable different females have their options via fact i've got self assurance no longer having abortions could probable recommend some females could pass to any lengths to abort a being pregnant and and up inflicting so plenty extra harm to themselves.

I'm an atheist AND I don't believe that abortion is wrong.
... (shrug) ... I also believe in assisted suicide, I'm flip-flopping on the death penalty, I believe in the legalization of drugs, the rights for same-sex marriage, a true equality of all races and genders, equal pay for equal work, giving people the benefit of the doubt, the right to bear arms, mandatory birth control for anyone on government assistance, and being a positive productive member of society.
...what of it?

Respect (or lack thereof) for human life was around LONG before someone invented religion. Thinkers are for or against abortion when they regard a fertilized egg to be human life. (Non-thinkers are against it because their preacher told them it's wrong).
Whether or not one is for or against it has little to do with their belief in a god. I'm an antheist, and my personal opinion is (as the bumper sticker says), "Don't like abortion? Don't have one".
"We" don't have a group-wide opinon on the issue. The individuality that makes us Atheists also tends to lead to our making up our own minds on such issues.

I know there are some, although I wouldn't think there would be too many. One reason Christians are against abortion is because they believe the soul enters at conception, since atheists don't believe in souls they regard fetuses as just a bunch of cells and most likely wouldn't see any problem with getting rid of it

I don't think abortion is wrong because I think it better to abort a baby than to have an unwanted baby that you are not financially or psychologically prepared to care for. And I also do not substitute my reasoning for that of others, so I think abortion is a decision to be made by the individuals involved and should not be legislated.

I think it is wrong.
I think it is very messed up to kill a baby.
It goes to show that there are adults who aren't brave enough to take responsibility for their actions.
Plus it is just messed up to destroy a life.
If anyone says that an aborted fetus is not yet considered alive
well....
It was a potential life
It was a potential human being and perhaps a potential human being capable of great things.
But I think the circumstances change if the baby if the baby is a threat to the mother or if it was conceived during a rape.
But I think it is courageous of a woman to take care of a baby that she obtained from a rapist, because that shows that she can see her child as her child and not a reminder of that event.

I think that abortion as a means of birth control is wrong... but it should be addressed not through prohibition... rather, it should be addressed through education, counseling and access to contrceptive means... at government expense, if necessary.
I think that denying abortion to a woman whose pregnancy endangers her life is wrong.
I think that denying abortion to a woman who is a victim of sexual assault is wrong.
I think that denying access to the morning-after pill for religious reasons is wrong.
I think that religious influence in government, prohibiting aid money from being used to supply condoms in AIDS ridden countries is wrong.
I think that denying contraception to sexally-active young people is wrong.
I think that denying information about contraception to young people for religious reasons is wrong.
