Time is the individual indication on when to begin teaching. I began to teach after two years of playing because I was extremely motivated to learn and progress.

It's best to teach beginners as you start out and then gradually move to intermediate and advanced playing instruction. While I've been playing for 51 years, I always enjoy teaching the beginner so I can impart instruction that will help them develop good habits in playing.

No certificate is required to teach, but it's always best to have an higher education in music and guitar application, as previously explained, to teach with authority and expertise.

It depends on how long it will take you to learn all aspects of guitar, reading music, playing music, knowing all the chords, all aspects of playing, barre chords etc. How would you feel if a student asked you a question and you didn't know it, you should be able to answer all questions !!!!
Most people who teach have studied for years, at least five, minimum, and no you don't need a diploma to teach in your home or theirs. I studied for about ten years before I taught !!!!!

This depends on how fast you yourself can learn. The best tool for teaching someone is to be able to quickly learn a song they wish to learn or to know if the song they have choosen is beyond their ability to learn. To be a well rounded teacher you should be able to teach them how to read music or tab charts and be able to teach them songs they like or want to learn. As far as a certifficate I have not heard of needing one to teach in my state. Most teachers starting out here in Nashville teach from a music store untill they develop a large enough client list to do it from home.

You have to get a Masters degree in Music Theory and pay $2500 for the certificate fees. Believe me, I am so full of it.
