Is there a way I can clean it? Or do something to stop this happening it really does make reading some of the faxes I am sent very difficult. It happens in the same place all the time, thanks in advance

Samsung and you feed blank paper in the top to feed it to recieve a fax, the tipex thing might be a reason now that I think about it - thanks

its quite possible the area that scans the paper(s) you are sending is dirty.
If the machine is one of those phone/fax/scanner/copier jobs, simply open the top panel, and with a damp cloth, wipe the runners that feed the paper through from left to right or right to left (just make sure any dirt you're wiping goes off to one side)
its also possible that a paper (that white-out was used on) that has been recently faxed, left some white out on the feeders

What kind of fax machine do you have? Plain paper or thermal paper? If thermal paper, there is something on the print head that needs to be cleaned off. You probably can use alcohol on a soft cloth. If plain paper and you use a thermal ribbon the same thing applies. The strip that heats up the thermal ribbon needs to be cleaned. I am not familiar with other types of fax machines so I can't help further.

Samsung, huh? Throw it away and buy something decent. Samsung is Korean for junk.

Perhaps your ink cartridges needs replacing

Sounds like your rollers need to be cleaned.

never clean it as this could damage it. change the cartridge or drum unit
