My son says that he was raised "too nice", and he doesn't want his boy picked on. How to prevent that?

Allow the child to be who he is.

This is not a matter of knowing how to kick butt or use a weapon. It is a matter of understanding who you are and knowing how to express this.

This task always starts by communicating openly and honestly with the child. You cannot start this too young. Infants may be ignorant, but they are not stupid.

Always respect the child. This is not a robot or a slave. Learn to listen and ask questions when you need to ask. Keep lines of communication open at all times. Never sleep in total disagreement. At least agree to disagree.

Physical training is important. If you cannot do this look for a Dojo. I am not meaning just martial arts, but in discipline.

Touch and some rough-housing should be introduced early, but teach appropriate times for everything.

Do teach good manners but also let the child know that not everyone is taught good manners. Be cautious about correcting behavior. Best to make a game of this when the child is very young.

Read to the child and teach the child to read when he is ready. Supply appropriate books, even those with pictures if the text is too difficult.

Teach the child to honestly express himself. His thoughts and his emotions. Share openly.

yeah get him into marksmanship.if you are one of those "guns are bad" nuts than make sure he has other hobbies he really enjoys.Archery perhaps.Archery and shooting are good because they also instill discipline and responsibility. The reason for the hobbies is to make him feel his good at something.he will get teased at some point in life, and probably be called good for nothing or something similar. If he doesn't have any real things he excels at,he might start to believe this. Don't shelter him.My mom did it to me and it had terrible effects for years.still trying to get shake it off at 17.Hit the kid when he does something wrong.disciplinary hitting is different than child abuse.I find a quick slap to the wrist works.Make sure it is quick as to scare them. Finally have him watch bugs bunny cartoons. It will help instill a mentality that he can overcome people and obstacles bigger than him.

Find his hobbies first.
Be friendly with him
Win his confidence.
Then suggest a proper line for his future.
Be helpful patiently till you feel he is O.K.
