specifically, could someone explain the double "father" sign, which hand is at the forehead, and where does the other hand go, and is it a double back and forth motion, or just one. i've done a google search for religious signs, and i've seen it done, i just don't completely understand how it's done correctly.

uhg, people, she's looking for an explinaition, not another example. ms, it's all according to practice, everyone has their own feelings for how anything is done "correctly" here are some tips though:

your dominant hand is at your forehead
your other hand is at your pinky
it doesn't matter if you do a double or a single sign, people will understand what you're trying to say
if you just do the sign for "heaven" and the sign for "father" people will get it, and if you are signing to someone, they'll correct you

that's probably you're best bet, showing your sign to someone else, since it looks like no one here knows how to explain rather than attach links

Here is a link to a number of religious children's songs in ASL. There is one titled "My Heavenly Father Loves Me". It should contain the sign you are looking for.
