Not at all. Perhaps you could speak to your supervisor and find out why exactly they gave her the title instead of you?
I have been an admin for years.... maxed out on salary and perform a LOT of duties for the company, but none of them are what you would consider 'secretary' duties.
So.... I quit. :) My next job will NOT have Administrative or Clerical in the title. :(
Good luck to you!

Apparently she got the title but not the money to back the title. If she was promoted over you I'd be pissed. But It's like more responsibility, for no money. I wouldn't be too bothered about it, don't lose sleep over it, it's only a title and nowadays that means nothing unless you're vice president or president of a company.
I worked for a company that promoted a girl in my group as "manager of data entry" The girl was an idiot my 11 year old niece was smarter than she was, only difference was she had seniority and her supervisor liked her, however, I found she got the title but not a pay increase (I was friends with the owners wife) and her supervisor had requested her so called promotion (made me wonder what she had going with him). So she got more responsibility but none of the pay for the added work, so while I wasn't pleased they promoted her to be my direct supervisor it did please me that she didn't get a raise to go with it. Unfortunately she turned into a micromanager and I decided to get out.

It's simple. Get over it as it will happen time and time again in your future. It is very common for someone who makes less or less seniority to get a title and it means basically nothing.
If you are not looking to accept more responsibility and you already make more money than she does, you are already ahead.
If you insist, you can ask your boss, but whatever the explanation is, you will not be satisified. Besides, how do you know she isn't doing more work than you do in some area and the boss values that portion of her effort?
No, you are not being silly, but you need to get over it. It's one of those things that happens in this imperfect world.

Speak with your supervisor and find out the reasons why you were being passed on this title. There could be valid reasons. Nothwithstanding, does title mean that much too you? Its only a title! So long as you're making a comfortable living, why bother who holds what title. You're creating misery for yourself.

I'd be sure to ask the manager (or whoever gave Her that title) Just WHY they chose to do that?
What's the deal?
Do they feel She has more of a "management future" than You do? And why do they feel that way?
IS there a career path (like becoming "Lead" then "Manager") that they haven't told You about?
And Why haven't they told YOU!?!
Or just ask Yahoo! Jobs about working somewhere they actually respect You.

Maybe your boss thought your time and experience would be better spent on more important tasks than watching over the two junior clerks.

This is a prime example of why managers and politicians have to spend so much time being politically correct and hedging their words. They can't just do what needs to be done because there is always someone who will feel slighted and waste time whining about their hurt feelings.
You make more than this woman. Get over it.

Your not being silly. But know they value you enough to make $1.00 more an hour. Keep that secret to yourself.

You are being silly. The boss might have a logical reason for doing what was done and it might have nothing to do with you at all. To make it about you seems very foolish. If you were happy before, you should continue to be happy.
Perhaps your thin skin is part of the problem.

Why be upset? You make more, and all the responsibilty is on someone else's shoulders. I think I'd be happy in that situation :)
