My younger brother has been saying things lately that have been worrying me. He seems to strongly believe people are watching him all the time. He thinks there are hidden cameras all around the house and he is the star of some internet tv show that he doesn't know about.
He has also threatened me before. He says he thinks I secretly want to kill him and says I'm a (quote) "threat to his existence in this house".
Does this mean he is suffering from paranoia? What should I do about this issue? Is it something I should mention to my parents?

just adding more details...he hasn't really changed at all in terms of how he acts at home. he's always been really shy around people he's not close with (this includes strangers or even family such as aunts, uncles, cousins, ect). Around his friends he's pretty outgoing.
With immediate family: hes fairly quiet when my parents are around, but when it is just me and him he suddenly turns very loud and annoying. This is when he mentions things such as how he believes people are watching him and so on.
I'm not sure if this matters or not, but he often mentions he has a plan that he is about to put into action. When I ask him about his plan he gets all defensive and won't tell me anything.

Definitely mention it to your parents - he needs medical attention.

Yes, you should mentioned this to your parents. How old is your brother? How old are you as well?
He may be depressed & lashing out trying to gain attention. he should see a medical professional ! Once he is diagnosed then you can take the next step in healilng. Your family needs to be aware & open to the fact that he may need some sort of help, prescription drugs are not always the answer !

How old is he? If he is below 10 it may be just phase and pass if he is older if not therapy would be the best soultion a mixture of talking to a doctor and some meds will calm those fears down it may take a while but you can't argue with results

Talk with your parents about this. Although it could be paranoia, an M.D. will have to make that call. Your parents may have already been made aware of his condition.
Is he avoiding various foods he used to like? Any other changes you didn't mention. These should be discussed with your parents!

Many mental illnesses appear when going through puberty. Definitely tell your parents what's going on. Paranoia is often seen with schizophrenia (hearing voices), but they are separate diseases

I agree with SirSnoozeAlot, the symptoms you describe sound very much like schizophrenia. Your parents need to get your brother some help very quickly,

Yea, really, how old is he? I watched alot of conspiracy movies and thought Satan was after me at age 10. When I saw a child psychologist, she told me I was very smart, and well, within a few days, I grew out of it.

definately tell your parents. he may just be messing with you, but it is better to be safe than sorry later on. he should probably see a psychiatrist as well.

It sounds really weird, I think you should tell your parents.
Also, try ignoring him and act as if you are not giving him any attention. Then check to see what happens.
