I have been talking to a few different branches of the military, and the Army claims to be the only branch that will gaurentee that I get the job written on my contract, and the other branches assure me that this is false. So what branches actually gaurentee you the job and date of leaving in your contract? Thanks!

Yes they can, With the Air Force you will list four jobs that you would like to do. When they match you with one it IS a guaranteed job. The Air Force cannot change that. You are the only person who can screw it up by disqualifying yourself. As far as the ARMY is concerned they only guarantee training, they are able to make you switch jobs. The Air cannot and will not do that. Ask both recruiters to show you a contract and you will see.

army is lying to you. every service can guarentee you entry into a certain school. But there is no guarentee you will pass and if you fail out then they will choose the job for you, nomatter what service. Thats the way it goes. The job they put on your contract is the job you get a shot at. Make sure it says something and not "open general"...thats when u get screwed. Dont be scared to review your contract and make sure everything is good to go before you sign no matter how bad those ******* at meps hassle you. Its a big decision for you. And despite what they say you can backout all the way up until the day you leave, so just remember that and make a good choice

When you sign a contract for the Army or Navy at MEPS, it's on your contract that if you complete the basic requirements and A School training and maintain eligibility for the job, then you'll have the job.

For the Marines, I believe you enlist into a more general field and then they assign you a more specific job from that field.

And for the Air Force, you basically write down three or four jobs that you're interested in, they choose one for you, and then give you a ship date (that's what they did to a few guys from my area).

What the Army office can do is hold a job for you when you go to the recruiting office, and then when you go to MEPS they'll have that job on your contract. As far as I know, they're the only service that does that.

I came into the Air Force with a guaranteed job and ship date before I left for Basic. The only way you will not get to keep the job you are guaranteed is if you fail out of the tech school for that particular job, then you have the option to retrain or get out.

Not sure about the other branches but having been in the Air Force I will tell you they cannot guarantee you anything. They have the right to basically do with you what they please. I had many friends who signed up for a job but go switched Security Forces (aka, I.D. checker) because they needed more Security forces.

You can get the job on your contract with any service so long as you complete basic training and the technical school for that job. I know many people that came in to the AF guaranteed an aircrew job (Boom operator, flight engineer, loadmaster, etc) only to bomb out of the tech school. So long as you pass and keep your nose clean, you will get the job on your contract.

All of them can guarantee you a ship date, but when it comes to a job...none of them can. That is ultimately up to you because if you sign up for a job and you cant pass a test then that is your fault. But all of them will let you sign up for a job. Good luck.
