I think active duty AKO users can also create accounts for their family members, too. I created one for my wife even though she never ended up using it... hardly surprising, since I hardly ever used mine, either. AKO does have a help desk, however, and surely they can point you in the right direction if you'd like your own account.

you can get your own ako account however your husband has to aprove it i believe i just use my husbands ako though some choose to have there own ako while many use there hubbies techinaclly the military says your not suposed to use your hubbies ako your suposed to have your own though i here there is some great things to using it but im happy with yahoo
i really dont use it unless i need to access important documents to take care of business other wise i really dont need to access ako for any reasons

you can open up a AKO account by veryfying with your hubby's unit administrator. You will be logged in as a Family Member. Did you know AKO has ant-virus software and discounts too?

I have my own AKO account, Its called a verified family member account and your husband has to sign you up for it (sponsor you)... my email address is

spouses and family members can get their own account, sponsored by the servicemember. it doesn't have quite the same features as the servicemember's does( they can't access orders, for instance) but is useful for emails back and forth since public domain emails are banned in many FOBs.

no because you are a family member you can have your own. He will just be your sponsor. You will need his user name and then he will have to confirm your request to have a sponsored email account. Good Luck

yes they have their own accounts and they are set up through the service member...so all you have to do is ask him to set you up an account and he can do that for you....have a good night
