What is the best way to get discovered as a comedian?

Make people laugh. The more people you make laugh, the better your chances are of being discovered. It helps to do a little charity work now and then. Emcee at a charity event. By the way, prove that you can work in a none "blue" environment when you have to.

Go to open mike nights, and be funnier than anyone else on the stage.
Perform wherever and whenever you can.
Always have something ready to present, any place, any time. There's a story that Jay Leno came to LA, and was living in his car. He got stopped by the police after a gig, and they didn't believe that he was a comedian, so he told them non-stop jokes for half an hour.
