I have this friend named Trom [weird name, yeah I know he's from Europe] and he's around... maybe 5'11" even 6'0".

He weighs 110 - 112 pounds and doesn't look too much like a skeleton to me. Though I do usually see him with t-shirts on and he's got a skinny body.

Is this a normal weight for him?
He's 17 years old now, and I dunno what is healthy.

He's not a vegetarian or vegan like I am, he actually orders a lot at McDonalds! lol.

He eats a good amount and always eats pizza most of the time.
He hasn't really ever pigged-out or had cravings for food.

He does drink a lot of water and energy drinks.
He doesn't take multi-vitamins each day
and he doesn't take anything for weight management or anything.

I dunno. I just wanted to know whether I should tell him that he should gain a couple pounds or not- cause I'm not sure and best friends look out after eachother.

Help thanks?

Mairy

First off, as a guy, he should generally weigh about 15-30 lbs more than a woman. At 5'2", I weighed 110 and was constantly asked if I had an eating disorder. He is at an unhealthy weight. Secondly, he sounds like he just has a fast metabolism. It very well could be that he wants to gain weight, but finds it difficult to do so.

I'm sure that if he made healthier decisions about his food choices, that would help. Also, skinny guys usually start going to the gym so that they have muscle or at least a defined/lean look. That's always the best route when trying to gain weight. Maybe you could suggest working out with him? That would be the most tactful way and you guys would both be living healthy lifestyles!

he has a really quick metabolism ...

I have a friend who eats like a horse, yet still maintains a bony structure - but he's 19. At their age, your weight can range greatly, yet still be healthy.

I wouldn't worry too much if he's eating normal amounts, not going straight to the bathroom after eating (throw-up), and does not turn down food.

type into google, or whatever search engine, bmi calculator, and put the information that it needs, but even if it says he's underweight, he might not be, it all depends on his body type, his family history, and more, so don't be to worried about him,
