A canker sore IS an infection once it happens...a cut in your mouth that gets bacteria in it. I suggest salt put directly on it...this stings pretty bad but it will help it heal. They also have a gel you can put on it so it covers it like skin so it will have a chance to heal..it tastes nasty though.

And thanks for the idiot comment but who is the one with an infected canker sore?

Yes, canker sore can be infected especially when you keep on touching it with your unwashed hands. However, your case of canker sore needs immediate medication from a dentist since it's getting bigger and perhaps more painful for you to chew or eat. Do it before it will lead you to a more severe mouth problem. You may try using OraMD products and your canker sore problem will be out of your life. I assure you, it really works best.

Rinse once in the morning and once at night with hydrogen peroxide, change out your toothbrush, and use an over-the-counter topical canker sore medication as directed. Otherwise, drink lots of water, eat lots of legumes (they have a chemical in them that prevents canker sores), and make sure you are getting your 8+ hours of sleep.

See your doctor or dentist. Canker sores can be very painful and make eating a chore instead of a pleasure. However, they can easily be cured, and there are medications to alleviate the pain.

yes, any sore can get infected. sounds as if it already is if it is red and real sore. you can try warm water with a little salt or better a good mouth wash, but i would recommend seeing a dentist for a scripe for infection asap.
