And thinking the victim is the one hallucinating and that the victim is the one who's mentally ill? And that the victim makes them abuse the victim?
Or do they know what they are doing, remember what they are doing, and not so angry all the time, but really enjoying lying, cheating, abusing, controlling, and causing other chaos and drama in people's lives?
Or is this something else going on in addition to bipolar? If so, what disorder causes this?
This is a question for you, especially if you have these actions or are a mental health professional who knows what makes people do this stuff.

They sound delusional or maybe having a lot of dysphoria & rage like stuff. Is there any substance abuse? Doesn't sound like they're purely depressed to me (which someone else said) They'd more likely be manic / mixed. I have alot of anger, rage, irritability with my hypomania. I'm a rapid cycler & I have lot's of mixed states. This can mean a huge amount of energy mixed with black rage and frustration. Meds help this. I always remember stuff I do & say. Hope this helps.

Hi This is very hard to answer, as for know what they are doing that could be true and false you see when in a full blown manic state a person could do many different things and not know or remember them. There could well be something else going on as well as bipolar but with out a full assessment I would not be able to say for sure. Most people that have bipolar are not violent in anyway that is just the stigma around it but there is a percentage that do have angry outbursts due to the bipolar. I would think that the best thing you can do is if someone is being violent in anyway is to call the cops. You see even if it is the bipolar the police will be the best people to get them the help that is needed in the long run. take care good luck

ok well i suffer from bipolar and so does my sister she has a more sever case than mine, a much more severe case. now i have mood swings alot but the worst i do is yell i have never abused anyone from it and i certainly have never forgotten something done or said i would have to say that must be a additional problem to the bipolar.

now my sisters is much worse and sometimes (at 24 years old) she will throw a fit like a 6 year old would do when they dont get thier way sometimes throw things but i know she knows what shes doing and doesnt forget.

also so you know it is very common in siblings to have this if one has it chances are another will. i hope things go well for you. and you should never let someone abuse you. good luck!

As a surviving victim of a guy like this,

There are 2 ends of the scale for a person with bipolar.
(bi means 2)
You have described a low or depressive pole.

The opposite end would be the manic end,or pole, excited and out of control, maybe spending on big items, overly enthusiastic and yet still just as much outside of reality.

The ones I have seen, were not able to control it on their own, without DAILY MEDICATION. No, I do not believe there was a recognition on his part that he was acting inappropriately and abusively.

I have bipolar and you are mistaken in saying that we do it intentionally to hurt other people. We have a chemical imbalance which causes dramatic mood swings and in some cases hallucinations, delusions, etc. It's a horrible thing to go through and sometimes we do get violent, irritable, and anxious. Once we go through an episode, we usually end up ashamed of what we did. I and I assume other people with bipolar have no wish to cause harm to other people.
