Fundies constantly harp that gay marriage will ruin the sanctity of marriage....

That aside, don't you think the sanctity of marriage has already been ruined...once the divorce rate climbed past 50%? Newsweek reports that the divorce rate among pastors is at the same level of the secular world.

So, why isn't there a public outcry about divorce....I Corinthians 6:9 used to condemn homosexuals, also states that adulterers will not inherit the kingdom of God...and Luke 16:18 says any who divorces and remarries is committing adultery..likewise those that marry a divorced person is committing adultery.

So, why don't we hear you fundies rail against divorce like you do against homosexuality.

As a homosexual..I am told the only way to go to heaven is to turn from my supposed sin....

Likewise, the only way for the divorced to go to heaven is to turn from their supposed sin ...so, for a divorced person, they would have to remain celibate to go to heaven.

Where are you fundies

I want to see some good old fire and brimstone sermons about divorce....I want to see this message board light up about divorce...

It seems that divorce is the biggest threat to our society...the break down of the nucleus family...so, why don't you guys focus on that?

Is it you are afraid of alienating your many monetary contributors in your congregations who are divorced?

A perfect example is Senator David Vitter of Louisiana. A married man who railed against gay marriage and how it will destroy the sanctity of marriage while he was visiting prostitutes and committing adultery.

The anti-gay fundatmentalists who claim to be protecting the sanctity of marriage are protecting their wallets and pockets. They would not dare condemn divorce and fight against it in the way they do gay marriage, because no one would send them money. They would go bankrupt, because so many heterosexuals are divorced. So, they stick to the "tried and true" scare tactic of whipping up frenzy against gay Americans. It's much more profitable. And it also shows that their real motive is not to "protect marriage," but to justify homophobia.

Divorce is not a lifestyle, it is a tragedy. Haven't I explained this to you before?

Christian pastors, preachers, and counselors, do indeed speak out against divorce. In reality, where our focus should be is on premarital counseling. Most people make the mistake of marrying outside of God's will, expecting marriage to be a never ending honeymoon. When this proves false they are ill prepared for the realities of marriage and seek the path of least resistance which is divorce.

Even though it is a sin, it is forgivable, to be divorced is not a lifestyle, it is the result of ending a marriage. Practicing homosexuality is a lifestyle. It too, can be forgiven should one turn away from it.

Being as you claim to be gay and intend to attack the fundies, I gather you do not attend fundemenalist churches, therefore you have no idea of what is being spoken on.

I would be satisfied if fundies focused their attention to their own divorce rates. I have seen statistics that show that christian divorce rates are higher than that of atheists'.

I have not seen the segregation of christian fundamentalist divorce rates from the general christian category. However, I speculate that the fundies' divorce rate will be higher than the non-fundie christian divorce rate. I speculate this because to have a successful marriage, one must be somewhat flexible in love of their partner.

I actually agree with the fundies on this one. Marriage is a holy, sacred institution, and nothing should be allowed to ruin its sanctity.

That's why the government should stay out of it entirely, and quit giving special recognition and favors to a religious institution. Citizens should be allowed to define their families any way they want to for legal purposes, and the definitions of "marriage" should be left up to individual churches.

hey...i just wanted to answer that part about homosexuals being condemned to hell but not adulterers...

The bible says... In 1 Corinthians 6:9-10

"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders 10nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God."

It is saying that if you continue in sin you won't get into heaven..plain and simple...if you are repentant and run to Jesus you will be saved...

It is the same for all these ...

I think, its because the people in America don't know how to delay gratification

they want sex now, they want to feel happy now, they want it to feel like when they fell in love now, they want to feel young again, its a very shallow society

They don't understand that the reason marriage is special is because it's for life, its not liek dating, you can't go sleep with another person when you get bored, you don't break up with them cause you don't feel sparks anymore

You make it work

Tons of people in my family get an arranged marriage and you know what, their happeir then most of the people I see around the neighboor hood. They know that their married so they have to make it work and they do. They end up loving each other deeply, they talk to each other, they respect each other, they dont define sex as love, their partners in every sence

there is money in divorce. you charge them a fee to marry them, and 5X that to divorce them.

the Homosexual population just does not have the sheer numbers to make them worth anything in the eyes fo the church. it takes money in the form of titheing, and donations on a large scale to get the Business of Christ to take notice of anything.

right now you are generating more profit for them by giving them someone to hate...(oh, i am sorry, a SIN to hate..remember they love you, just hate everything about you. ) this drives up their numbers because they can now draw all of the homophobes into their churches and that in turn generates more money.

First let me clear that I am NOT a "fundie".

I am a Bible believing Christian.

The first thing you need to understand about the divorce rate is that those opposed to marriage are doing their best to say that its dead. You rarely hear the most significant statistic because the media is so pro divorce.

The truth is that 70 percent of first time marriages succeed.

So marriage is NOT as dead as you think.

Hey, if you're suggesting that we born again evangelical Christians practice what we preach you can forget it.

Now go forth and sin no more.
