The term "spirit guide" is interchangeable with the term "angel." However, in my experience, not all spirit guides are angels.
When a person lives by divine laws, practices faith, love, morality, humility, and prayer/affirmation, their spirit guides will most likely be angels. When a person lives a sinful life, their spirit guides are more likely to be evil or deceptive spirits.
The good spirits can only stay around a person of light; and visa versa. It shouldn't be hard for most people to discern a person of light, from a person of darkness. You can see it in their faces (well, I can, anyway).
P.S. The spirit world has to respect free will. If a person only wants light and goodness, then an evil spirit will not be able to stay close to them.

How do the feelings make you feel? When are these feelings coming? When I first started studying and experiencing spirituality I did a lot of reading, and when I would feel like I was opening channels where I could recieve information, some of it seemed really weird to me. I didn't know where the messages were coming from, so I had no way of knowing if they were credible/reliable. I later came to find that they were all my own thoughts coming from my subconscious mind, communicating (even arguing at times) with my conscious mind. It's your minds way of trying to link your waking to your non-waking thoughts, strengthening your spirit and mental capacity for further spiritual experiences. This stage lasts until your "spirit guide" as you put it, or guardian angel/divine self feels you're ready to explore more in the spirit world, and be ready to discern whether the intentions and ideas of energy entities you encounter will be good/beneficial or bad/unuseful for you. In the spirit plane you vibrate at certain levels, and the higher frequencies of vibration bring you closer to the euphoric plane of "heaven" where people who've lived good lives spend the majority of their time in the afterlife. Lower vibrations make your energy denser and more restricted, so keep you bound really closely to the material world we live in during our life (concepts of hell are largely misunderstood). Hope this helps =D

Yes, all spirit guides are evil spirits in disguise.
"And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light." 2 Corinthians 11:14 (New International Version)

Well who ever told you that are liers, because spirit guides are not demons, we all have spirit guides to help us through life, and there are many that simply do not recognize them that's all.

for Christians, the only Spirit we are to allow to work in us, is the Holy Spirit. calling up any other spirit is not what God wants from us.

no that is not true.
Christians call everything that is not their god, or Jesus a Demon. Quite frankly that is an insult to the true demons.
your angles and spirit guides are just that, angles and spirit guides.
