"Timmy!" Timmy's mom called."Get dressed! It's time for Church training!" "Coming Mom!" Timmy quickly got dressed and got his stuff for Church Training. He ran down the stairs and out the door. Once outside, he ran to the car and opened the door. He slipped on his seatbelt and waited patiently. Soon his mother came out and got in the driver's seat. They talked small talk and soon they were at the Church. Timmy got out of the car and ran inside with all the other kids. (I've never been to church so I'm only going to give you the gstalt of it. ) Over the next few years, Timmy learned to be kind and passionate to other CHRISTIANS. To every one else, he must be rude and mean and try to shove his religion down other's throats. He also learned that if he doubted god for only a second he would be condemned to torture for the rest of eternity.

I just want to take a quick poll and see how many people can detect the problem in this situation.

Well...I see quite a few problems here. The first one would be the term "church training." That's scary.

Other than the obvious total misconception of how a child learns to be a Christian, I dont see too much of a problem. It could be that the mother didnt go in with the son. I also, in 70 years of being a Christian, have never heard of Church Training. Maybe instead of the gestalt version of religion, it would be a good idea to know of what you speak. This was a blatant slap at Christians, but-God forgives you.

Such a simplistic view of Christianity.

1. Since you've never been to church, please explain how you even have the remotest expertise to speak of what goes on in church or Sunday School (church training?)?

2. I have grown up in the church my whole life (Catholic till I was a teenager, and Christian after that). Never have I been told to treat other people badly outside of church.

3. Christians are humans too. We all make mistakes. We say and do mean things sometimes. I'm not saying that's okay, but it's not like Christians are crueler than nonChristians.

4. I don't agree with shoving any belief down anyone's throat. I am not an apologist. That means, it is not my duty to convince you to believe in Christ. It is simply my duty to treat you with love and respect and tell you about Christ when it's appropriate, and never more than you want to hear.

5. No one ever said doubting is a sin. They will not go to hell unless they fully turn away from God. Jesus said, "blessed are they who have no seen, and still believe" though.

Ohh, come ON, you know better than that! The passionate religionists will tell you that you are a biased, cynical, "ugly atheist" who is just trying to paint a worst possible picture of good wholesome christians who want to raise their children to "Love God" and walk the right path to their ultimate heavenly reward.

The unemotional non-theists will be mildly amused by your post, but will be wondering why it took you so long to just say to everybody... "Do you believe in a mysterious invisible superbeing, or don't you?"

What you are, of course really doing is commenting on the fact that the overwhelming majority of people have been indoctrinated into whatever particular belief system they have at a very early age, during the most impressionable and formative years of their childhood. It is, however, important to make the further observation that the majority of christians are not wacky, hate-mongering religous fanatics who condition their children to despise all those who think and believe differently from them. They probably grow up believing everyone else is going to hell anyway, but heck, what's new?!

Of course there are families where that little scenario you portrayed is played out repeatedly. In a Society in which parents are free to indoctrinate their children into whatever particular belief system they choose to do so, the only way to look at it is that the exact same freedom is given you to teach your children YOUR way. Added to that, I suppose you can just be overwhelmingly grateful to pure chance that you yourself were not so unfortunate to be the child of such a family. I know that I, for one, am grateful for that every single day.

I've never heard of it called Church Training before, Sunday School sure, and I asure you I was never told to be disrepectful to others and such.

If this does happen, it's probably fairly isolated, as Church tend not to teach hate anymore.

Just speaking from my experience as a former Roman Catholic and attender of Sunday School and baptism/communion lessons, what you learn there is pretty much prayers and bible stories, as well as diversity and tolerance. Maybe I just had a nice Church when I was a part of it.

What is wrong with this scenario?

Was it up to Johnny or God?

Was it a learned behavior from his experiences from men and women?

Did he rely on the teaching from the word of God?

You have never been to Church yet you learn a scenario like this from people that do not get it. Christians look at the unseen. The world looks at the seen. That is what frustrates the non-believer. His mind regulates his sight!

Is it mean or rude to tell a person that God loves them. Is it arrogant to have the blessings of God on a grand scale. Yet the world folks are rich and our applauded for being so. You buy their DVDs and CDs and yell loud and worship their efforts.

Do you know God. God said I will have mercy on whom I will. and he will show grace to him he chooses.

Christians go through things and believe me I wish we were perfect to please God as he pleases us. Yet we are pressured on every side and tortured in our minds by family and so called friends, sometimes by other Christians. God is the only one that sustains us. So we often look to him for a change in our thoughts and ways.

Christianity;to tell what God is all about.God is not forced,we say, and it is he that does the drawing. We doubt God yet his love brings us back and we repent.

You have a very distorted view. Your writing seems angry. "Church Training" "shove his religion down other's throats" Your anger will be your undoing my friend.
By the way NO where in the Bible does it say Hell. Unbelievers will die the second death. They will not be with God. That is the punishment to not be with God. Free your angry mind.

Everything about it is realistic, except for Timmy wanting to go to church. Kids have to be dragged kicking and screaming to services.
