I don't think there is anything wrong with having a baby shower for every child. Anyone can throw it, it doesn't have to be anyone in particular.
Throw One!! I'll go, lol

Ha Ha monster in law, thats a good one! If you want a babyshower there is no rule saying you can't throw your own. If you want your mom to do it than that is ok too. My first baby shower my mother in law did for me at her house and it was co-ed and they did everything their way so for my second baby which was a girl, my first one was a boy, I needed a few new things so my mom threw my babyshower at a local restaurant with only my closest friends and family. I didn't tell my inlaws which I guess is kind of rude but I just couldn't pay for all of them and they would have invited everyone!! It turned out really nice and I got lots of things that I needed. So I say go ahead and have another one and have fun!!!

Why not? But instead of having your mother pay money for a shower, couldn't you ask her to pick up some of the things you need? Or buy them yourself...
You could have a welcoming party after the baby comes, which may be more fun because people get to hold and see the baby and they will likely bring things for you (you could make a registry even if you don't have a shower)

You can have as many showers as you want. My husband's family threw one for us and so did my step mother (two different states) and my mother's family is planning on doing one in a week or so when my grandmother comes up from virginia for a couple weeks. So go for it and have your mother do one for you. Don't listen to people who say one shower for the first kid and no more. That's just crazy. This is my second child, but my husband first and as i said we have had two already and one more coming. We don't need anything else so we just told people diapers and wipes. A diaper party yay!!!
Good luck and sorry uou have such a crappy inlaw..thankfully my in-laws are awesome, we get a long great and have since day one.

Every woman I know that has more than 1 child has had a second and sometimes third baby shower. There isn't a thing wrong with it, and all of us moms understand that you need newer things for your new baby. Throw it yourself if you want a shower that runs a little smoother than your last one. Good luck.

I would say unless someone offered, I would not...People are going to want to get you things..If the things you need are pricey, have people go in on them...We dont do baby showers but for the first, except for me, because I had four boys then a girl, so I got two, nine years apart...My family always asks what big things we need, stroller, carseat, swing, then goes in together for them..
