compare the funding to the wars and the diseases mentioned, its like comparing fort knox to loose change.

If diseases like that are incurable then why have people commented that men in white coats are trying to solve them everyday?

deaths in love with …
My point is the mission is to save as many lives as possible, but the "Terrorism" deaths has been significantly less than many other statistics related to people dying.

Again referring to money reasons. If you hire one doctor he does one test. If you get more doctors they can do more tests in less time. Also more doctors = more solutions/ideas etc.

Terrorism is men killing other men for the sake of inciting fear.
Besides cancer and AIDS are incurable, while men can be stopped.
EDIT: Incurable probably isn't the correct word for cancer, but AIDS is incurable, as are many virus-induced illnesses. Cancer is unpreventable though, and only curable through either expensive surgery to remove a cancerous growth, or through expensive chemo-therapy, which has other side effects on the human body.

Presumably you are aware that the Federal government spends billions of dollars per year on medical research. There is little point in spending more; science has to be built a step at a time and you can't simply spend a hundred billion dollars and buy a cure for cancer -- or even the common cold.

I read a decent article in Reason about this awhile ago.
The gist of it was that if terrorists blew up a shopping mall EVERY WEEK, you would still be more likely to die from falling out of bed than from a terrorist attack.
Quite frankly, the terrorists won. We are terrified. In our fear, we have allowed power-hungry people to rob us of our freedoms.
I hope we do better next time, but I doubt it.
EDIT:
It's true that the US government spends money on fighting disease, but nowhere in proportion. Congress just approved a 470 BILLION dollar "emergency" spending bill to continue to war in Iraq. That's almost half of the annual budget. If you add up the defense spending of every other country on Earth, it's slightly more than 500 billion.
We have seriously screwed up priorities.

Umm.. what rock are you living under that you don't know that we are fighting cancer/aids/etc? They are fought everyday by people who wear scrubs and little white coats. The government even pays people to learn new ways to fight them. Do some research and learn a few things. It might help you to not ask questions that so obviously have an answer.

Oh yeah, Afghanistan has oilfields galore.....
I don't see why we shouldn't fight all of them, and unbeknownst to you (apparently) people are fighting cancer and aids.

It's easier to get funding for a war than for research, sadly.
