I think if a guy is paying, he shouldn't take a date to a place where there are things he cannot afford...either be prepared in case the bill does go high, or go to places where the food isn't expensive and if 2 people eat a full meal, get beverages, and even dessert, it would be within his budget.
Anyone who orders expensive items for the sole purpose of running up the tab, deserves a good case of food poisoning.

One the one hand, plan ahead--it is ridiculously easy to find restaurant price guides so you know how much to take in advance. This way, you won't be surprised.
On the other hand, if you have enough money and your date *purposely* orders the most expensive items on the menu in an attempt to embarrass you, then enjoy your meal, excuse yourself to the restroom, flag down your server, ask for separate checks, pay your portion, then sit back and watch the fun begin.

I think any girl that intentionally orders more food than the guy can pay for should be dumped like a bad habit. Who does that? It's not nice, necessary, or polite.
That being said, if my date did that for me (and I regularly pay for dates, we switch off) I'd say that I didn't anticipate how much he was going to order and ask if we could share.

what kind of a question is this? if there isn't enough of cash just let you partner now that you are running low. then grab a small snack and go take a walk to the park. don't over stretch things like that cause it will cause you to stress out and ruin the date. be open. communication is a must. dumb stunts like that can ruin a good thing real fast.

I think that is beyond rude!!!!! I girl should never do that I never order anything over $10 if I can...... I always offer to pay as while but my boyfriend never lets me.... But I think that is soooo inconsiderate and inappropriate.. A female that respects a guy would never do that and if a female knows her man is low on cash she should make him supper for just thinking about spending what money he does have on her.... That kind of man is extremely sweet and should be with a female the isn't high maintenance and loves her man for who he is and not for his money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I would say that's a cheap shot, I'm the other kind of girl. I order something I like that doesn't cost a whole lot. No sense in running up a credit card for one meal.

If the girl purposely orders too much, i would excuse myself from the table and head for the door, leaving her to pay for what she's ordered. Good riddance..what a b*tch...

I think that's mean. SERIOUSLY. Always pick the cheapest stuff on the first date. Unless the date says otherwise. OBVIOUSLY that's just inconsiderate. It's okay to let him pay, but to BANKRUPT him? NO.

Yeah, can't say that I would do that to a guy. Although, I've never been in a situation where the guy could not cover it and if he couldn't, I would pay.
