Yeah JC was an awesome fighter, but I have to agree with the others about Roberto Duran. He was recently ranked in an espn poll as the 5th greatest boxer ever! He is also always ranked a one of the best ever lb for lb. JC is not too far behind though!!!

Does Arguello count as Latin? He was more well rounded. And I think Barrerra deserves some consideration. Chavez had serious trouble against scientific boxers.

Definitely Duran. He accomplished much more in his career and the opposition he beat far outstrips Chavez's opposition. Or Salvador Sanchez. Or Carlos Monzon. Or anyone.

If you like statistics Julio has the best stats by far from any boxer within the last 50 years.
However some folks don't like stats. I would go for Salvador Sanchez. in his short life.

I say he's one of the greatest but I believe the best was Roberto Duran. Man what kind of fight would that have been had they met in the ring?
