Ahhh, they have a dialogue going, those two. Some days thay get along quite well, other days the *me* needs comforting.
PS. One of the answerers said : "I choose *me* over *Me* ... " So there's a third factor in that equation? Who is the one who chooses between *me* and *Me*? Here's a good koan for you!

No. Why would we need to bridge the gap? Does it do any harm for people to disagree if they still respect others' rights to their own beliefs? And could you "bridge the gap" between bright green and peanut butter? Some things just have no point of similarity on which to place a bridge. The Buddhist sects that are called theistic do not, when studied in depth, consider their deity-like symbols to be real persons, though many of the lay followers think that way. As long as that misunderstanding does not severely affect their practice, none of the scholars bother to explain it to them.

One thing I learned in my study of chemistry is that atoms are mostly empty space. Also the space between one solid body and another is filled with a lesser number and density of atoms or molecules (and probably CFC's and other nasty stuff too). Somewhere in this empty space is the You, significantly closer to the you than the empty space, say, over by the car in the parking lot. This space shifts, filling up and emptying according to laws only suggested using quantum probability calculations. At any moment, the You could collide with the you and either pass through or bounce to a new path. This "gap" is ever changing and, in myriad cases, doesn't exist. It is the illusion of separation that arises from the inequality of matter and energy density locally that makes us think we are separate from the Universe. The "gap" is a human construction of mind to explain empirical effects we observe. But, unlike the big hole in the universe that astronomers have discovered, there is still matter and energy everywhere, and locally, there is no real gap, just "gap states" that are constantly changing (and which, according to Heisenberg, we cannot know the position and velocity of at the same time). Instead of racing to follow the uncertainty, it is best to sit back and accept that the pattern will eventually bring you into contact with anything that isn't in contact with you now.

Before a man can tread the Path he must become that Path himself.
In many ancient teachings this bridge is referred to as the antahkarana. It is the that magnetic tension that pulls us nearer to the I, the One or the eye that sees all. We've always been everywhere we'll ever be but we construct these illusionary separations along the way--then we get to build a bridge to move past them :-) Funny things we do, huh?
"The Science of the Antahkarana is the science of the triple thread which exists from the very beginning of time, and links individual man with his monadic source. The recognition of this thread and its use, consciously, as the Path and the means of ever expanding contacts, comes relatively late in the evolutionary process. The goal of all aspirants and disciples is to become aware of this stream of energy in its various diversifications, and consciously to employ these energies in two ways: interiorly in self-unfoldment and in the service of the plan for humanity."

Good question. If there are no gaps we will not have individuality. Yet physically we are 'one'. No doubt about that.
So it has to start from the question of
1. Is there a gap?
2. If not why aren't we consciously one?
So if we are able to connect with the source that's what 'bridges' the gap that we perceive. Got to think harder on this.
Thanks for another great question

If you are speaking of the universal gap, then there is no gap. Technically we are all made of the same material as the planets and thus, we are all connected. We don't end, nor do we need a bridge to span a gap between us. Now that's deep.

I believe there is. Our consciousness passing through the gateway of our limited body is really creating the gap of the consciousness(infinite) spiritual variety. This gap creates individuality. Individuality to survivability and host of problems that would have not been there in the first place.
Thinking collectively is a good start.

Yes thoughts do. I am twins in a way cosmic and earthbound, and thoughts bridge that gap but to know this one must be as silent as the dark side of the moon.

The gap of which You speak is an illusion. We are all the You, but the physical you in its density tends to cause us to forget that our solidity is really just an illusion, that we are merely molecules dancing the cosmic dance at a slower vibration that the You to which You allude.
The gap lies in how we live our lives -- whether it is through the you or the You.

There is no gap, but I suspect you know that. If we believe we need a bridge, we will instantly create one, because we are so used to thinking in terms of form. It is very hard for us to think in terms of non-form.
