when i read a book i will only be able to focus for a certain amount of time or untill i zone out...i still read because when i come to i notice im at a different part of a page...but i wont remember...the same thing happens when i do word puzzles...i notice that i marked out words that i had no idea i found or couldnt remember...

It sounds like you're not concentrating on what you are doing. You probably have so many things that you have to do and want to do that your mind wanders. It has happened to me too. Probably almost everybody. When I read, I have to back-up and re-read some of it just to make sense of what I'm reading. If you want to fix this; try harder when you read to keep your mind on what you are reading. It's going to take some practice but you can do it.

The technical term for zoning out is dissociation, a pulling away.
It's something we all do to some extent.

If it is something that gets beyond what you can control, it's time to see someone to get it treated.
