Get several fresh oranges, squash them in the skins, open them up, rub over the ares the cats keep using, Then get white pepper, and go round the area again, sprinkling near the oranges, This should work. It keeps my cats of my garden, they run away, and don't return to the affected area. Hope this helps?

My front flower garden plus the bushes across the front of the house are urinated on and in by all the neighborhood strays, and the vegetation is lush and growing great. Cat urine isn't caustic like dogs urine, and encourages growth, it doesn't kill the plants.

I have a food and water bowl in the back by the garage, and cats won't pee or poop back there at all, as the average cat won't do either one within 60 feet or more of a reliable food/water source.

An easy fix for you would be to keep a water dish with clean water in it available to the cats, or even offer some dry food daily. They'll move further away to do their business.

The territory spray markers are done regardless of food/water, though, and are scent markers for the different territories (which overlap). If there's a particular place that they pick, put some mothballs into the toe of a nylon stocking and hang it there about a foot above the ground (head level for them), they'll avoid that area because it stinks too bad.

You could also stick the kids toys into the garage or bring them inside.

Are there any leash laws in your area regarding cats? Could you call animal control and have them pick the cat up or surrender him to the shelter yourself? You may be able to report it to a public health service in your area as well - cats often carry intestinal parasites that are transmissible to humans such as toxoplasmosis, giardia, and coccidia so this really isn't a healthy situation.

Cats hate citrus so you could try to get citrus-scented air freshener or save your orange peels and make a barrier around your garden with those. Mint (but not catnip) is also hated by cats so something mint scented might help as well.

You can get a product that connects to your outside water tap if u have one. It has a sensor on it and if something like a cat walks into your garden it gets a squirt with water. It isn't cruel in anyway and does seem to work, although anything that walks in front will get wet as it cant tell the difference. You can get them in garden centres and advertised in some newspapers they just connect to the tap.

Invest in an ultra-sonic device, usually available from pet shops and garden centres. No harm to animals or humans. Animals hear the higher frequency produced but humans can't and they hate the noise - very effective but does no harm.

Buy a dog;
Alternately if you can persuade your local/nearest zoo, to let you have some lion dung, that'll have the cats queueing to get out of the country,never mind your garden. though that in itself raises health issues, but it REALLY works.

theres a plant you can get informally called scardy cat, plant it in your garden, the cats hate the smell and won't come in. you can get it in a garden centres, its really cheap and easy to maintain.
you can also get certain fences, but they don't work aswell and a lot of hassle

You can buy some stuff called "get off my garden" that is supposed to deter them.

Either that or a bucket of water/hose pipe over their head if you catch them doing it.
