No you cannot,lead piping was outlawed years ago,dont touch gas,leave it to a proper gas fitter

no no no no,lead pipes are not to be used in gas services at all,use yellow alkathene if pipe is outside building or continue with copper inside and please use a plumber,gas and diy dont mix

If you're in the UK you are not allowed to carry out this kind of gas fittings. You need a licensed Corgi fitter to do it. Don't even try it.

you need a leadloc fitting they come in about 5 different sizes, so you'll need the outside diameter of your lead pipe, so cut an inch off and take it to the plumbers merchants with you.they should help you with all you need
