Hello,
My boyfriend of 2 years went on a 2 month trip without telling me.
I knew that he was planning to go but he wasn't sure about the day. I was planning a big "send off". He didn't even call to say "goodbye". We hadn't had an argument so it wasn't like he was angry. We've gotten past bigger problems. However, this time I feel like a fool because everyone knew that I was planning send off event (including my brother who doesn't like him) and then he just disappears. After days of frantically trying to reach my boyfriend I called his cousin who told me that my boyfriend had already left on his trip.
Now, after a month without a word, my boyfriend is leaving "I miss you", "I'll be back soon, my darling" messages on my answer machine.
I am hurt that someone I love would be so careless with my feelings and embarrassed for everybody to know that I am with somebody who would treat me like that.
Should I dump him (short-term or permanently) or just get over it?

I don't know if you should throw away 2 years together, but you definitely have to sit him down when he comes back and tell him how horrible he made you feel, see if he has a good reason for leaving without telling you and embarrassing you in front of friends and family. I'd feel the same way if I were in your shoes!

If he really cared about you he would have told you that he was going on his trip. I would be really upset too.
If you aren't going to be able to get over it, then yes dump him. Because it will just cause problems later in your relationship if you can't forgive him for it.
If you think you can get over it, then explain to him how it made you feel, and that you are really upset about it. If he does it again then dump him. Only one second chance, in my book.

This just goes to show you that obviously he doesnt care enough about you to even say goodbye....thats pretty low...If I were you I would break it off...just seems like he is using you

He should have told you, but next time he does it, I would tell text him and tell him not to come back.
Better yet go on a vacation with another guy and dont tell him.

Yes, it is. When you are involved with someone and profess to care about them, you don't leave without saying anything.

tell him to kick rocks for that sh*t!!! he didnt even say goodbye to u and then waited an entire MONTH...dump him..permenantly. u dserve better!!
