What makes some christians think good values aren't taught in public schools?

My children attend public school and are taught ON A DAILY BASIS what good values are. For example:
R=RESPECT
I=INTEGRITY
C=COMPASSION
E=EQUALITY
I went to Catholic school and let me just say, my children and their friends are very respectful to themselves and others. I am very proud of them. Catholic school gave me a great education, but that's where it ends.

I'm not sure why...I suppose it is because they figure their "Christian schools" surely teach the right way above all others.

Thank you for pointing out that children do learn good values in a public school. That is actually part of the curriculum (at least in the two states I've taught in,) and we do have to set aside class time to help students learn civil behavior. But the learning process continues through out the day.

Most public schools today dwell on individual rights much more then respect for the rights of others. Which leaves respect, integrity, compassion, on the back burner. But they have taken equality to such an absurd point that anything and everything is an "equal rights" issue.

Their main point is to teach that everyone is a victim, a victim of something and therefore the blame for any faults are always the fault of someone else.

There is a difference between what is taught and what is learned.

In many public schools kids learn LOTS of things that teachers do not teach. I think that is the main problem.

I went to and my kids go to public school, but we are blessed to live in a small town.

My kids go to public school and I teach them how to behave at home. Kids at ANY school act like their parents; schools can do little to change that.

However, (being a k-4 English teach for 4 years) we tried to teach values not unlike R.I.C.E. to the kids.

Also many other things are taught by schools.

No Christianity at schools. Bibles have been confiscated from kids. Muslim/Islam is OK at public school and is even taught for a week.

Homosexuality is OK at public schools. Not only do they teach not to hate (which is good in my book) but they teach that there is nothing wrong with homosexuality (which to me is not ok and a religious POV)

My son came home from second grade class one day and used the Lord's name in vain -- his teacher does that.

We taught him not to do it anymore and if his teacher does it it's her choice but we don't do that.
