Bush addressed a veterans association yesterday .

The world knows that the spoilt/arrogant /addicted son of a powerful / connected father did what most powerful/rich/connected fathers did during the draft and that was to use all their power ,usually with a wink and a nod and a third party, to get their loved ones safely out of harms way and into the National Guard .

The poor,un-connected,powerless of course had NO choice and tens of thousands were slaughtered in Vietnam.

While others had their guts blown apart and were forever traumatized by their Vietnam experiences, this vile Bush didn't even bother to show up for duty which of course there was NO duty.

My questions is simply, how on earth can these veterans even stand to be in the same room as this UN-PATRIOTIC ,DRAFT DODGING war monger who let others do HIS DYING .

My father was killed in France 5 days after D-Day and his remaining still alive veteran bodies and their descendants would puke if Bush dared show up.

My Great Uncle died 30 days after D-Day. My family supports the war. Every generation of my family born in this country has served, myself currently.

What you are talking about is why drafts are unfair. During that time, all of the National Guard were connected kids. Another reason things were unfair. But what you fail to see is that not everyone drafted went to Vietnam. There was the Cold War so a lot went to Germany, a lot went to Korea. There was more to the military then just Vietnam. So it does not suprise me at all that someone didnt go to Vietnam. I know a lot that were drafted and didnt go.

Why should the VFW support the Democrats though. You compare things to Vietnam again, who were the ones spitting on those Veterans coming back from Vietnam? They remember things like Kerry did. Historically, Democrats dont support the military as much, they support veterans affairs, but not the military itself as much in the game of politics that BOTH parties play. A lot of veterans remember who helped them more while they were in.

Point is, there is a lot more to it then what you get out of the pop culture reports of recent history. Pop culture makes it look like every draftee went to Vietnam and that nothing else was going on in the world. Pop culture makes it look like every person in Vietnam has PTSD. Pop culture makes it look like every Vietnam Vet is homeless. Pop culture makes it look like every Vietnam Vet is anti war and was anti war back then. While a lot are, not all are.

In the military, wether we like it/agree with it or not, we do what we're told. Discipline. I could be off bringing this up, but as a member of 3 VSO's (Veteran Service Organizations--AmVets, Marine Corps League, and Vice Commander of my American Liegon Post) I can say some like Bush/some don't. But if putting up with him for a few minutes to get a Veterans' issue resolved is acceptable. Chain of command is set down and not up for discussion. Personal feelings don't apply.

He served! He volunteered and served during time of war. Doesn't matter if it was only in the Air National Guard because serving in the Air National Guard or the Army National Guard doesn't guarantee you won't be deployed. If you don't believe me then feel free to ask all the National Guardsmen who served in World War One, World War Two, Korea, Vietnam and now Iraq.

Your Father is probably very proud of you and your service to our country. I didn't see it mentioned at all in your question, but I'm sure it must be very impressive.

I've served 30 years from Private to Captain in the U.S. Army, in the Army Reserves and in the Army National Guard!

Its called democracy Bub, something your father gave his life for and something you obviously have no respect for.

Bush was never ordered to Vietnam with his Unit.

How could he dodge the draft when he was serving in the Air National Guard!!

So your rant is useless.

By the way where did YOU ndgbill serve your country???

Why do you assume, that if Bush didn't enlist in the National Guard, that he would have ended up in Vietnam or even been drafted for that matter ?

You act like everyone was drafted back then and they all went to vietnam.

sometimes the right thing to do is fight the system tooth and nail from outside. other times the best thing to do is fight the system from the inside. i was in afghan and i would go and listen to bush just for the chance to get some of the issues i have out into the open.

We serve the Commander-In-Chief. We swore an oath to do so. We are not politicians. We are professionals. We are veterans who fought for your freedom. We do not deserve your stupid, degrading comments. We do deserve your praise and thanks.

They had to be hand-picked from the USA, and beyond, for their right wing views.
