well the lines and songs are pretty much the same but broadways songs are different...
like when meg and Christine sing "Angel of Music" in the movie Meg sings "Christine you must have been dreaming" and goes on like that but in some broadway versions she sings "I watched your face from the shadows, distant through all the applause, I heard your voice in the darkness, yet the words aren't yours!" and things like that.
the scenery and events are not totally the same either, i prefer broadway over the movie anyday.
The movie has added music and scenes and things happen differently...
There is no 'swordfight' in the graveyard on broadway, the Phantom shoots fire instead...
The chandelier crashes right after the Phantom sings "All I Ask Of You Reprise" in Broadway instead of right after Don Juan/Point of No Return...
In Broadway there is a "Rehearsal for Don Juan" where the Piano plays by itself and mesmerizes everyone, its really cool!
Also at the Final Lair part 2 scene, in the movie the Phantom just says once "Christine, I love you."
but in almost all the broadway versions he says
"Christine I love you...."
and after she leaves he calls after her
"I love you! I love you....I love you..."
and he says it multiple times in the most SAD, HEARTBREAKING voice that I have ever heard, Michael Crawford's and Howard McGillin's got to me the most...You should really go and see the Broadway show if you haven't already.

They change a lot. That's why I despise the movie and will always hold the Broadway production in high regard. Some scenes were cut, dialogue edited or cut completely, and what really makes my hackles sit up and turn red is that they removed the entire third verse from the title song. Also the exceptionally tacky electronic hand claps in the beginning of the movie version of the title song are unbearable. Emmy Rossum and Gerard Butler should have their vocal cords removed and fed to the dogs. Go for the Broadway/Original London production music!

The two scripts are pretty much exactly identical. In fact, when I was watching the movie, I couldn't believe they were able to adapt it so well without having to change things around.

it is close but it had to be different because, filming a movie is different than putting a production on stage. But yes it is very close.
