So, now (according to some of you) I'm not ready for God to come into my life because I think for myself and live my life according to my own standards rather than according to the Bible?

You're telling me that I need to let go of all my own thoughts and ideas, unless they coincide with what the general Christian consensus is on what God would want for me? You're telling me to turn my life over to this God you speak of who is invisible and has never left one shred of physical evidence on the Earth for us.

Do I have that right?

And am I going to Hell for this?

For thinking this thought on your own? Yep. You just bought an express ticket to hell. Don't worry though. Hell is full of free thinkers so it'll probably be much more enjoyable then heaven. At least more thought provoking.

The defining moment for some Christians is a need to have God in their lives, but for most it's a want. Obviously, you have neither at this point. No problem.

For me it was a want. I became a daddy and was looking to connect with guys who knew the ropes. By chance, or maybe divine intervention, I met two men on separate occasions who were bible believing family guys. Even worshiped at the same church. Both invited me to a men's bible study.

I certainly had reservations, not having stepped foot into a church in 20 years. But I liked these guys. They were different from the guys I hung out with at the local pub. So I went.

The more I learned from this group about being a man the more I wanted to learn about their God. It's been a dozen years since I got born again. In that time I've grown in knowledge and wisdom. Most importantly I've learned to accept people for who they are and where they are in life's journey.

Look. You're not ready yet. Maybe you never will be. But the choice is yours alone to make. For me, I can honestly say I have no regrets.

yes; God is invisible, but he has left us physical evidence on this earth.First of all,he has given us the beautiful scenery of this earth, tree's,birds,skies,food and water,life that's enjoyable,etc. Just think about it,if God had've made the sun a little bit closer, or a little bit further, this earth would not be fit for humans to live on. God made everything just right for us. It is the humans who messed up this earth.we have all the evidence we need. Second of all,the Bible warns us,"trust in God with all your heart, and do not lean upon your on understanding."{proverbs 3:5} The Bible also helps us to see what could happen to us if we choose to disregard God,"in a flaming fire, as he brings vengeance upon those who do not know God, and those who do not obey the good news about our Lord Jesus. These very ones will undergo the judicial punishment of everlasting destruction from before the Lord, and from the glory of his strength."{2Thessalonians 1:8} so we can see that it is very important to get rid of our own ideas,and pay attention to God"s written word and put him first in our lives or it could cost us our life.{Matthew 6:33}

No girl, you aren't going to hell, and if you do, I will have your back. I'm a Christian, and these are NOT the answers I would have given to your questions...for that, most will tell you I'm not a "real" or "true" Christian. Ignore those turkeys. You'll never be able to soar with the eagles if you keep gobbling with the turkeys. My mom used to tell me that - some of the best advice I've ever received.

God gave you a good brain, I think he desires you to use it. Using your brain is NOT a sin. I don't care what anybody says.

Oh, hey - is that Skyy up there? Hey girl, what are you doin' here, I though I was the only one who "hangs out" in R&S all day.

God does condone free thinking.
If your standards are in conflict with what Jesus teaches, then yes, He expects you to modify them with His help.
You do not have to let go of all of your thoughts and ideas. God desires certain things from all of us, worship, honesty, moral living, praise etc. From others He sometimes wants a specific thing or action, NO ONE can tell you what this is, only that if it is against His word, it is not a calling from God.

Actually, there is evidence, but it is up to you to accept it as being such.
You will not go to hell for having questions or doubt. In fact it is not a sin or sins that condemn us to hell, it is the blantant refusal to believe even when you know you have been called.

This state of uncommittment and uncertainity is often referred to as "being under conviction", and is quite common.

I hope I'm not one of those that's given you that impression.

God meets you where you are and when you are willing molds he you into what he want you to be. There is not requirement to conform to something before Jesus comes into your life. (Good example John 4:5-42). The women in this passage was a Samaritan and it was illegal for her to speak to Jesus much less give him a drink of water. She was even considered an outcast among outcasts because of her living situation. Yet not only did Jesus speak to her kindly he gave her what she needed.

Hope this is helpful.

God left the Earth for you.

Not get in your car, dump a ton of Carbon Monoxide into the air we all breath, help make acid rain, put PCBs into the water table so we can get cancer and then call yourself a great person.

I have't owned a car in 30 years, not because God told me it was wrong. I figured that one out on my own.

I walk 4 miles round trip per day to work.

Some people pay $120 a month to do that at the Gym on a machine!

As Barnum observed, there is one born every second!

Remember, I'm here to shake your foundations.

You think your auto is so wonderful, put your nose by the tail pipe and see how long you live.

THAT is what you are doing to ALL our AIR!

Have a nice day.

God is fair! “For the INVISIBLE THINGS of Him from the creation of the world are CLEARLY SEEN...” (Romans 1:20). Wow!, The Scriptures teach that we can indeed see invisible things! How? “...being understood BY THE THINGS THAT ARE MADE...” (Romans 1:20). We read in Psalm 19:1-3 that “The heavens declare the glory (goodness) of God; and the firmament SHOWETH His handiwork. Day unto day UTTERETH speech, and night unto night SHOWETH knowledge. There is NO SPEECH NOR LANGUAGE, WHERE THEIR VOICE IS NOT HEARD.” Just as with music, nature needs no interpreter. The Scriptures plainly teach that God has provided enough light (through the things that are made) for anyone to clearly see the things (which are invisible). “...even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are WITHOUT EXCUSE: Because that, WHEN THEY KNEW GOD, they glorified (to esteem glorious-honor, magnify) Him not as God, neither were thankful” (Romans 1:20,21). Christ-rejecters are without excuse! Those who will someday die and plunder into hell fire will be without excuse! Anyone can come to the knowledge of the truth if they so desire. We all perceive and become aware of God’s presence at some point in our life. We all must decide to go down one of two possible paths: God’s or our own.

You have to decide whether you want to live a higher standard life based on a solid set of convictions (not the general Christian consensus, b/c that is obviously screwed), or a life based on subjective belief system. It takes more that "believing." It takes an objective faith in God, that is real, relevent, and right now.

It isn't about "Blind Faith" It is about an intellectual, informed faith. Please see my reasoning for this:

I guess many so-called Christians would have you going to Hell. But, My God, what are they thinking. I've my free will and I will not hand it over to a Christian or any other Church

Of course a few 'real' miracles may change my mind like saving Africa from all the violence and starvation.

Also, I would like to be able to hear God talk to me but that may make me schizophrenic, don't you see.

Turning your life over to God, simply means leading a God centred life. It means that God is the first priority in your life, and everything you say and do, is done keeping that in mind.

You should definitely think, act, react, ask questions - there's nothing wrong with that. Your seeking could ultimately lead to the knowledge of a creator - you never know.
