In a street fight you want to do everything as quick and as hard as possible. Unless you have training kicking I wouldn't advise it. Punching is much more natural and most likely something that you have done alot of throught your life already. If given the chance use your elbows and knees and don't fall to the ground unless you're on top.

Do not throw any kicks unless you throw it at a low vonurable point like the upper thigh or knee. Fight as dirty as possible aiming for pressure points and weak spots like the throat (try to hit the adam's apple), back of the neck, jaw, under the nose (hit with uppercut so the nose bone goes into the brain), and the balls. Pressure points are very effective especially if the fight is on the ground. Common pressure points include the temple, upper thigh, and where the neck meets the shoulder. Assuming that you are fighting for your survival you should resort to eye gouging, biting, and scratching. If the fight involves weapons (knive, lead pipe, mace) try to hit a pressure point on the same arm (below the wrist, "elbow pit") that your opponent is holding the weapon, then try to get the weapon away from them. The key with weapons, at least in my opinion, is to attack the arm that your opponent is holding the weapon in. If you have a weapon (knive, pipe) use it on any of the pressure points and vounurable areas listed above. If the fight involves mace, use it on your opponents face. Go for choke holds like the headlock or two handed choke. My best advice though is to try to avoid fights.

You should try to not get in a Street fight. But if you do try to end it quick.
The best thing to remember about a Street fight is there is no such thing as a Clean or Fair Street Fight. Do whatever is needed to end the fight fast be that a kick to the groin, Breaking an arm, throwing the guy/girl to the ground and then running. Whatever you need to do to end it quick and get away is the best thing to know when you get into a Street Fight.

Yeah, beat feet and get the hell out of there as fast as you can. A real street fight is something you do not wanna get into, trust me. I know it looks cool in movies, but in real life it's ugly and most of the time pointless. Even if you win, you lose, so you beat the crap outta him, then what? You walk around felling taller than before? I'll tell you what happens next. If the cops don't pick you up for fighting in the streets, then you gotta look over your shoulder every time you cross the street coz sure as the sun rises every morning, the guy's gonna want some payback and jump you when you least expect it, he'll also probably bring his homies with him for insurance. Worse, he'll probably be packing a gun too.

You have some very good answers so far. I agree with those who believe that avoiding street fights is the best tip.
In my humble opinion, some of the things you can practice to avoid these situations are:
1. When you hear or see violence erupting, don't stop to see the show, but pass on by or turn the other way.
2. Avoid drunken people on the street.
3. Always be aware of your surroundings, behind you and around you.
4. Stay away from friends who can't control their mouths.
5. If you see trouble ahead either cross the street or turn around.
6. Ignore people who shout obscenities.
7. Heed the warnings in your area about specific hot spots for trouble.
If you do all of this but find yourself under attack, strike to get away and make a lot of noise.
I saw two guys fighting in the street about 30 years ago. It started out more like they were sparring. The one who was losing grabbed a wine bottle and smashed it on the concrete. The first few swings of the broken bottle missed, but then one caught the stronger guy under the arm. It opened up a large gash and severed an artery as blood was literally spurting out. He was dead before the ambulance arrived, and again these two guys were cousins. I was the one who ran to the store to call for the ambulance. After that, I avoided that group of people and that neighborhood.

You want to look for the best chance of survival as a street fight is exactly about that. Thai and Wrestling have proven to be a solid combo as well as Boxing and BJJ, now add Judo and well Sport Karate and you will be well versed.
The streets has alot of factors other than whom is the best, as anyone is capable of coming back with an arsenal etc. But the proven in the Cage styles mentioned will always keep you as safe as any srtyle or group would.

Tips for "Streetfighting" ( fighting is a last resort )
1. Do not get into fights. Try to talk your way out of bad situations.
2. Running away is your best bet.
3. If forced to fight, don't fight to win, fight to get away with as little physical injury to yourself as possible.
4.Strike hard, strike fast, and don't stop until the threat has been nuetralized.
5. Remember that your life is at risk, as well as that of anyone you are trying to protect. Scream, yell for help, there are no "dirty" moves, so do what you must to survive, do it fast, and get away.

Fight Smart.
1. exploit the soft spots.
The neck, groin, head, side of the ribs, the eyes.
2. Stop the fight before it starts, if possible.
3. get away, if possible.
4. Fight dirty.

The smartest thing to do in a street fight is to run...as fast as you can. Practice NikeDo. Your best weapon will be your awareness of your surroundings. Avoid dangerous situations at all cost. Fighting in a gym, dojo, boxing ring is one thing. Out in the real world, it's prison rules...hence NO rules. If you ever have the bad luck of being trapped in one, keep everything simple. Use simple strikes you have practice a thousand time, remember we never rise to the sitation but we always fall to the level of our training. Strike vital areas as you only get one chance at this. You don't want to make them mad, you want to take them down. Be aware of your surrounding as they usually travel in pack. Run away the first chance you get, don't be a hero. And don't be afraid to cheat.
