Id like to add Im sorry to those I offended, Im not blaming all Athiest. Its just when Im in a discussion about the Bible I always seem to get that 1 Athiest who has to put their 2 cents in just for the sake starting something, Im sure you have got the same treatment from Christians.

Hello,

I am not atheist but know a lot and took a philosophy course from two of them.
They simply believe religion is false mythology, contradictory with no empirical evidence at all and that people who believe in all this are uneducated, insecure or foolishly wasting their time and lives away... there is nothing after death.

They just don't like to neglect the education of their inferiors in this regard and have the same urges to spread the "bad news" as those who are urged to spread the "good news."

Regards,

Michael Kelly

A seed planted - I am an Ex-Christian. I know all I need to know about god and the bible. I am an ex-Sunday School teacher.

No Life - Hmmm...with 2 kids and 2 step-kids and 4 dogs and a cat, 5 acres, a husband that works from home..I have a full life.

Making fun of what I do not understand - I do not make fun of others beliefs. I am all for it if you have found what works for you. I defend myself, sometimes strongly, from outrageous claims and sweeping generalizations about what others think I am or think I know or do.

Pushing my beliefs onto others - I do not try to convert others to Atheism or Animism. I do not proselytize. I will talk of my thoughts on subjects and give my opinion when asked.

Closed-minded - How do you figure? Please read my above statements and tell me how I am closed-minded.

Praying your seed grows and attempting to drown me - No thanks, I have swam in that river before. The seed has been rejected.

Sorry but you are highly over flattering yourself and your religion. I spend almost no time at all questioning religion. I spend the vast majority of my thinking hours looking for real answers to the questions of the universe. I've decided decades ago that religion has no answers to those questions so I look toward science which of course primarily consists of unproven and sometimes unprovable theories, the plausibility of those answers being correct are much greater in my mind than the fairy tale drivel that can be found in religious teachings.

No, I don't spend time questioning religion. As in your case, I do spend time answering questions about how and why I think like I do but as I've stated, compared to what I see as the common sense of science, religion is complete fantasy so I really pay little attention.

I am an atheist but I do not try to convert anyone else to my way of thinking. For those to whom religion is a comfort and blessing, good luck to them. I considered myself a Christian for many years, went to church etc. but over time I found too many questions could not be answered. I'm sorry, but just referring to faith does not work with me any more. When I discovered that the bible had been written over many centuries and by many different people, and then mere man had decided what would be included in it - that finished my belief for ever.

Most atheists understand religion quite well, and some of us see that religion does more harm than good and so we try to talk to people about it. I don't appreciate pushy "radical" atheists much, other than how they make me look a lot more reasonable.

A lot of people already doubt their religion, and by being open about atheism, it may help those people to figure out whether they truly believe or not. Religion will teach you not to ask questions; reason will teach you to always ask questions! As an atheist, I want to make it easier for other atheists to "come out" because it was hard for me.

That's the point! Science Can be proven wrong. It's Testable. What you ignorantly call a downfall of science is in fact it's greatest strength.

Just because something can't be disproven doesn't mean it's true.

If religionists kept their beliefs to themselves, then you would never hear from an atheist again. The problem is, you guys pass laws that fit with YOUR belief system, or insist on putting the 10 commandments up in government buildings, or fly planes into buildings. Believe however you want, just respect other people and they just may respect you back.

Because religion keeps on trying to mess with my life, and the lives of those around me.

Just stop the interference in laws, politics, medicine, science, reproduction, education, sexuality and war, and I'll say no more about it.

I think you're referring more to "anti-theists", the militant sect of atheism. Their motto is: I don't believe in God, and you're stupid if you do. But the great thing about them, and all other zealots, is they encourage all of us to defend our own beliefs, which allows us the chance to re-evaluate and determine the difference between what we really believe, and what we've just accepted as truth because it's what we've been told. I think everybody should take the time to reaffirm your faith once in awhile, and if it takes an anti-theist to ignite that spark, then I'd say even they have a theological purpose.

Why are you making fun of people that don't understand things? It seems you don't understand anything about atheists.

I have a life, I just spend some time on here. Looks like you need a life.
