Just your opinion please...not looking for if you like or dislike them...but, do you think America would put a woman and a black person in the White House. ...especially as President and Vice President? Or do you think prejudice would prevent them from these roles?
My opinion is that if the Republicans run an ultra-conservative candidate, like Romney, Huckabee, or Brownback, that nearly any Democratic ticket will win....
However, if the Republicans run a more moderate candidate like Giuliani or even McCain, that it will be a tight race. I, a liberal, would consider Giuliani or McCain, and would probably vote for them over Hillary/Obama.... However, I would never support an ultra-conservative candidate?
Your thoughts?
I ask in R&S because the core of the Republican party is the "ultra religious right wing-nuts".
Again, just wanting your opinion on who may win...not who you think should win...but who would.

Atheist Libertarian here....A Hillary/Obama ticket can definitely win. The hardest to beat would be Giuliani. I think it'll be close though because LOTS of people HATE Hillary (myself included). If the Republicans run any of the other current group they'll lose.

I think it could win the white house, on the condition that all the young people in America actually go out and vote and there is no ohio/florida/voting machine malfunction.
I personally like Edwards out of the top three democratic candidates the best though.
And on a side note: I am curious as to why you would support Giuliani or McCain but not Hillary or Obama? All four of those are pretty moderate candidates and generally stand for similar things. And as you claim to be a liberal, I'd assume one would go for the slightly more left leaning of the four, not the right leaning ones. I don't mean this as an attack or anything, just honest-to-god curiosity.

I think that if the Democrats place either one of those candidates on their ticket they'll lose the election - again.
Obama lacks vision and experience and he's way too naive for my liking.
Hillary is actually more conservative than most people realize but her handlers won't let her swing to the right and since she won't fight them so she comes off as disingenuous.
Hillary is a great power behind the throne person But you don't want her sitting on the throne- ha ha ha
I'm thinking that a more logical ticket is Edwards /Richardson
I'm thinking that we're about a year away from the conventions and the front runners are going to burn each other out leaving room for an Edwards or Gore candidacy
On the Republican side Romney because of his religion can't win on a national level
If I'm making a dream ticket for the Republicans it's McCain /Rice- That would be -tough to beat

Hey, if Hucakbee actually does take Colbert on as VP he might win!
It's the neatest thing since Howard Stern ran for Governor of NY.
I saw Huckabee on Colbert's show and he was impressive because he was real and open.
But the only one out there I'd even consider voting for, other than Ralph Nader, is Dr. Bill Frist and he's holding back.
I think it's a contender. He's Rocky.
He has enough liberalism to attract Dems and he's Republican enough to pull in that vote.
The Republicans come up with a Charasmatic enough condender and we'll see a repeat of the Reagan election.
Women don't vote the gender line and neither do blacks.
People pick the most Brad Pitt candidate that surfaces.
Tom Cruise could win this election if he tried.

You are still in the wrong category and your over-generalizations are off. Also McCain and especially Giuliani are not moderate. If by "Hillary/Obama ticket" you mean Hillary as President and Obama as vice president, I don't see this happening. I do think however that it would probably win over any Republican candidate except maybe Ron Paul.

I think Hillary/Obama could win. I don't think (sadly) that American is ready for a Black President, but I think we are ready for a woman President and a Black Vice President.
I think you're right about the ultra-conservative Republicans helping Hillary win. I think Bush has become so unpopular that America has had enough radical anti-gay activist Presidents for awhile.
While Giuliani would be my pick for a Republican, he would have to show more independence from the Religious Right for me to consider him. I could never in good conscience support any candidate who promoted homophobia in any way.

I think so many people are on the "Republican=Bad" bandwagon that it doesn't really matter who the Dems run, those people will vote for them anyway. Happened in my city last elections- ALL the GOP candidates lost (including some really excellent and beloved incumbents) bc a huge number of ill-educated people wandered out of the woodwork and voted straight Democratic. Result was, for example, a county commissioner who knows nothing at all about his job and is almost universally regarded as incompetent.

I think this question is irrelevant & ignorant...the question you & this country should ask itself is how can any intelligent person in this country cast a vote after the theft of the presidency in 2000!?! And WHY...WHY is nobody angry about it either 100 or 200 years ago it would've been cause of a revolutionary war or at the very least-major civil unrest...today, I'd be surprised if anybody took notice! But I don't blame the government...I blame the people of this country!...because the government can't and won't do anything that the people of this country won't allow! So, people here are really only getting the quality of government service that they have allowed & by default-have asked for...so please,PLEASE stop complaining about our government...you asked for it & you got it! BOTTOM LINE-LEAD, FOLLOW OR GET THE F**K OUT OF THE WAY!!!
This country is great because it's whatever you choose to make of it...for better or worse! This country is great because of the people who help contribute to it, for better or worse...& complainers/whiners don't contribute!

No. There is too much prejudice in America for that ticket to even have chance to win.
I would not vote for that ticket either, but not because she's a chick and he's black. Rather I wouldn't vote for them because I like being safe in my own country. McCain, yes. Giuliani, no. Thompson (Fred), yes.

Senators Clinton and Obama could win the White House, certainly. I don't believe that a majority of Americans, when they go to vote, will think much about gender and race. I certainly don't. I vote for the candidates that I believe are qualified and will serve the country well.
