# 10. No reason to listen to Christian contemporary music. Boy, does it suck!
# 9. Free to enjoy real life and not worry about an imaginary afterlife. We atheist look forward to a bright future for mankind and not to the destruction of the world in holy wars or Armageddon.
# 8. Atheists can sleep-in on Sundays. Of course, we realize that most self-proclaimed Christians also do this, but we don't have any guilt over it.
# 7. No Bible (or other holy book). We atheists don't have to spend an inordinate amount of time defending ridiculous ideas, contradictions and atrocities from 2 thousand year old books.
# 6. Guilt Free Mocking of Pope and other religious nuts. Religion has given the atheist a plethora of wonderful characters to deride and mock at will such as Pat Robertson, the Nazi-youth Pope and Fred Phelps.
# 5. SEX! Atheists do not feel obligated to be ashamed of our natural human instincts and biology. We can fully explore our sexual selves without any inappropriate guilt imposed by some fisherman or religious nut 2 thousand years ago (or any other author of religious texts).
# 4. No Rejection of Science and our own intellect. Atheists do not have to ignore scientific evidence which demonstrates the falsehoods of religious dogma. We are free to explore our intellect without any 'blind spots' imposed by faith. I suppose this is why the average atheist is smarter than the average believer.
# 3. Atheists are in Great Company. Atheists and agnostics have always been leaders in the advancement of mankind from primitive thinking to an enlightened view. Here is a great list of famous atheists. Even if we (atheists) are wrong, think of how much fun Hell is going to be! I am sure that Mark Twain has swindled Beelzebub from power and Einstein and Thomas Edison have probably worked out the whole Hellfire problem to achieve a climate not unlike St Petersburg, Florida.
# 2. No Sky Daddy. Is there anything creepier than the idea of a great 'Sky Daddy' looking down at you at every moment? Or even worse, your dead relatives peeking in on your life at inopportune moments. We atheists take responsibility for our own actions and answer to our fellow man, not to some Santa for adults.
# 1. No Christians after the Rapture! This is assuming that they are right, which is completely unlikely. But even so, could an atheist imagine a better world than one in which all the 'true believers' were suddenly whisked away to free the world of religious division and hatred and allow mankind to put our effort into improving the real world and this life for a change!

Top ten reasons to be a disciple of Jesus
1. You go through life not worrying about too much
2. You get a much better understanding of your fellow man
3. You get a MUCH better understanding of yourself
4. You learn to appreciate the natural things in life more
5. You look at things with a new prospective
6. Your actions toward your fellow man carry more of a cause
7. An meaning of life is revealed to you
8. Your life doesn't mean as much as other lives do
9. Knowledge through the bible and through God NEVER stops
10. There is a reward at the end of all your hard work
Know I know that there are a lot of "Christians" who don't follow the way of the bible and even on R&S have been very unruly (myself a part of the guilty) BUT we have to understand that we are all, unfortuantely, human and are bound to make all kinds of mistakes. "The Spirit is willing but the flesh is weak." Please forgive those who has done you wrong or said something wrong and don't let it become a discouragement to find God. Bless All.

Well, to be Christian, you must accept that Jesus Christ not only existed, but is the son of God. If you don't believe that, then you believe he was a heretic, and therefore do not subscribe to the religion. (I personally don't like to be forced to believe all or nothing, but that is the main idea.)
I think it is hard for someone to say they are Atheist. Most people believe in something.
I believe that jesus influenced many people during his life, and stood for very good things, but that he was a human, and that over thousands of years, people exaggerated his acts by storytelling, then in writing, and, the information was distorted.
We are just finding this out now...that under Constantine's rule, parts of the bible were taken out and added in, to help all the different religious groups come together under his rule. It was a political strategy that worked, and destroyed the truth of the bible. What we read today is nothing like what the writers of the bible intended so long ago.
That's like trying to make a cake where half the recipe has been torn away. How do we know what the other ingredients are?

christian....
for # 1, believing in a greater love
for #2.. the peace CHRIST gives you....
the chance for eternal life... i could go on all day... but most of all, why not christianity?? what do you have to lose?? ABSOLUTELY nothing!! there are no consequences for loving CHRIST! if i am wrong, then i will rot in a pine box, and know none the better... but if i am right,(which i am) then i will experience ever lasting life.... what will the atheist do when they die, and realize they have been wrong?? i would rather live as if there was a GOD to find out there wasnt, than to live as if there wasnt a GOD and find out there is.... the basis of christianity is love... so what is wrong with love?? its the only thing in this world that is genuine.. love has never hurt anyone.

Reading the KJV of the Holy Bible, as a boy in the company of rabid Fundamentalist Christians, made an atheist of me. The pornography, evil, slaughter, nonsensical understanding of our planet and its origins, and such things as a talking snake, a talking donkey, stoning kids to death, selling a daughter to sexual slavery, burning a daughter alive as a human sacrifice to God, and other Christian beliefs, settled it for me.

To be an atheist:
1. No evidence of God.
Ditto 2-10.
We haven't had to invent a special word for people who don't believe in leprechauns. The only reason any grown adult here in the 21st century still believes in God is because of generations of systematic sectarian training. If we could actually attack the problem afresh, from the perspective of our present knowledge of the universe, "theism" as such would never even enter the equation.

Reason to be a Christian,
1) You can justify your hatred, prejudice and bigotry toward people based on your narrow interpretation of scripture.
2) You have a club to belong to.
3) People at your club, have to love you regardless of your lot in life...loser, fat, obnoxious, etc...

Amazing! All the atheists are giving you reason why theirs is a *logical* choice, and all the Christians are giving reasons why their choice benefits *them*!
Is this really logic v. greed?
