I have neighbors that constantly have a sign in there yard for free kittens. I know they have cats outside that they don't fix and so they're always getting pregnant. I have sent them letters suggesting that they have them fixed, I even sent them an article in our local paper about free spay/neuter clinic. Why do they not care about their cats health and also about bringing more homeless kittens into a world that is already overpopulated with them??!

One of my other neighbors told me that she went over there to see the kittens and the people said they actually do it for the fun of it, cause they're so cute! Ugggh! Yet, they never take the cats to see a vet.
I also called the SPCA in my city and they said nothing could be done cause it's not illegal. Makes me sick!
I think if I were to try and trap them and take them myself to be fixed they would just keep one of the kittens and just not fix it. They are really something!

Well you could set up a live trap on your property and if you happen to catch one of their cats theres nothing they can do about it. Get a live trap at Lowes,TSC tractor supply company or even rent one from a local humane society. Set it up with bait around your yard. Once you trap one take it to a low cost spay and neuter clinic and get it fixed yourself. That is honestly the only way it will ever get done. People are lazy and honestly most dont care if their cats pop out kittens all the time. Its obvious they dont care for the health of the cats if they are outside only cats, so why would they care if their cats got cancer or pyometra?
-Edit-
Thats sick that they do it because they are cute and fun but dont take care of them. Well if you think they will keep a kitten or two just keep out your live traps whenever they start wandering around. It might take a long time to get stop the process but by even just spaying an neutering a couple you are slowing the process ten fold! See cats come into heat at about 4months, they can have 4 to 6 kittens a litter and can become pregnant every 21 days. The average cat has 3 litters a year but left to mingle and do their own thing cats can be pregnant with one litter and nursing another. Thats a heck of a lot of kittens! If you could just trap a litter and get them sterilized that would be a great help.

They may think of themselves as "breeders" or they may have decided that their cats will do fine on their own. Do they take their cats to the vet for vaccinations and check-ups?
It's also possible that they think the kittens are "cute" and they like the idea of kittens, but not really care about what happens to them after they're born.
You should talk to the people at the free spay/neuter clinic about your neighbors and ask what they think is the best plan of action. Unrestrained breeding like that is bad for the cats, your neighborhood and the kittens that are a result of it.

Well, if they're OUTDOOR cats, you can always do TNR with the local humane society--live trapping the local cats, take them in for the free neuter/spaying and then release them back into the area. It's a little underhanded, but it would take all the breeding cats out of the population in your area, which is what the animal shelters advocate.

I can't afford to get my cat fixed, so she has kittens alot. We make sure they go to good homes and are well taken care of. However, there is no free spay clinic here. If there was, she would be fixed-end of story. Kittens are cute, but there has to be a limit if the surgery is free, for goodness sake!

Sometimes the SPCA has mobile vet clinics who offer their free time and services on Saturdays to come drive by a neuter and spay animals. Unfortunately, it is not against the law to breed your cats, even if it is irresponsible and out of control unless they are being abused in some way. I would want to strangle that neighbor if I were you!

first of all,you must have good financial standard in order to cope with the large number ,then call a vet or an animal shelter (and that's more prefered)that has a good reputation among people,so they may come and see how are the cats doing, before everything your neighbours must approve of that so ask them before you do anything, then if they approved the animal shelter may take them and take care of them in every way ,but if ur neighbours don't approve of that so u can't do anything about that ,they just don't care about their cats!!try and bestwishes for you and these homeless cats!

IF i was in your position, i would check your local laws about people having pets unleashed and unsupervised. Then if there is a law, report them.
Some towns have leash laws that apply to cats, not just dogs.
Contact the local shelters, talk to them about the situation and see what they suggest.
All the attention and bother might light a fire under the irresponsible people's butt to become better pet parents.
If nothing happens then trap the cats and get them fixed yourself.

since you know about the free spay clinic for cats try and get a humane live trap and trap any of the cats that come in your yard and take them there yourself. if they ask if you are the owner just tell them that your neighborhood has a stray cat problem and you are just trying to keep it under control. they will thank you for bringing in the cats. then take the cats home make sure they are awake enough to let loose then let them loose. since you brought up that the cats were strays they should give them stitches that will either dissolve or come out on their own

Some people just don't care enough, and think kittens are just so cute that they want more, even if it means being an irresponsible pet owner. Sad but true.

Thats terrible. Why don't you find some articles that list the high numbers of unwanted kittens that are euthanized each day and shove it up their @@$!!! Maybe , just maybe, they'll get the message.
