How can people be so sure, with all the religions out there, that theirs is in fact "the true religion"? Was there an event that happened in your life that made you positive? Have you seen/heard God?

well, to be honest, i am a muslim and i don't intend on being anything else, because every question i have on life is answered in islam. it all makes sense to me.
nobody tried to force it on me ever, but there were others who tried to force me to convert to other religions.
you know what? i can't believe in any politheistic religion because i can't believe that there is more than one god. i doesn't that concept have human characteristics, because the gods would be fighting like we do, and in a way, shouldn't a god who created everything beautiful we see, all the heavens and the earth, and the entire universe, have no equal?
i can't believe in worshipping the sun, moon, stars, fire, etc, because god is always around us, right? we don't always see the sun, moon or stars. and as for fire, it can be put out, so how can god be destroyed?
i can't believe in judaism because in this religion, once you're a jew you're always considered one, even if you would convert. i can't understand that, & to me it feels a little controlling.
i can't believe there's no god because the 'big bang' couldn't have acted out of it's own accord! & we all had to come from somewhere! even if our ancestors were a bunch of monkeys, they had to be created too!
and i just can't believe in christianity, because i can't believe god would have a son like we can have children.
i believe God is One, who has no partners or equals, no wife, no mother, no father, no daughters or sons.
& even if there are some christians who feel the same way, the religion has been so divided and has split in so many different directions all throughout history, has been warped into mens' philosophical thought (calvinism from the thoughts of john calvin, lutheran teachings from martin luther, etc.), and such, that i just can't accept to believe it.
that's how i know that islam is right for me and the 1.3 billion who also follow.
peace!

I can tell you the truth, but you never have to believe anything I say. Since you ask, I will tell it to you.

I am a Christian. When I became a Christian I had an experience that I was not prepared for. It was the encounter with the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit is what Jesus promised to those who trusted him and believed in Him found in John 16. You can read that chapter without me pasting it.

Once a person goes through that kind of experience, things change. A lot. Suddenly the tables are turned on whatever you knew, or though you knew. Suddenly it's illogical to deny that there is a God. It's also dishonest. It's also kinda stupid.

I am not saying that other people are stupid for not believing in God, I am only talking about myself. Since I had that experience (actually it was a string of things that could be called 'spiritual) , it would be crazy to say that God wasn't real.

Now I get asked at times, "Why don't you explore other religions?" Well, I have. But not to search for truth, I already told you that I had that, but in order to attempt to be able to converse with another's faith.

So I am saying that I would be THE supreme idiot if at this point, I denied God. Since that was over 20 years ago, so many more things have become apparent. The Bible, even with it's flaws and quirks, is the closest thing people have to know what God thinks and what to do with it all. There has been no other texts that I have seen or heard of that is better than the Bible at figuring out what God is and what his opinion on things is.

As I have progressed, I can see that those who do not believe this do not have the same spirit that I have come to know and love. They have 'other' habits that show me clearly that they do not have the Spirit of God.

So 'my' religion is the truth because it's backed up by the living God who comforts me and lives with me.

Jesus said that He was the "Way, the Truth and the Life." Now...that leads us to the famous question of Pontius Pilate: "What IS truth?"

I would say that, due to the nature of "truth" - there can only be ONE truth. It is exclusive. It is not a subjective thing...it is very narrow by definition.

Bringing us to the $64,000.00 Question: Is Jesus of Nazareth a Liar, a Lunatic, or is He Lord? A serious study of the Gospels leads a person to one of three conclusions about Jesus: He was (1) an evil lying villain, (2) a preposterously deluded madman, or (3) the Messiah, the Son of God. It is ludicrous for anyone who has studied His life to take the position that He was simply a good teacher. Only one of the three conclusions is a logical possibility.

I'm baptist and I have a friend that is catholic that i recently went to church with even though i have major problems with the catholic church. I only did it for my friend. no where in the bible does it say that you must confess your sins to man-the pope and priests are no one special and they will die and come before God on judgement day just like you and me. It is unnecessary to have a rosary or confessions. muslims and buddhists are praying to an idol God and they too will have to stand before God on judgement day. Now my religion(I have actually done research into the religions of the world) is not perfect but it is the basics and that's all you need to worship the Lord. we have female preachers and this isn't right. Any church is that promotes homosexuality isn't a real church of God. Atheist will also have to stand before the throne. Christianity is the real way and there is no other way to get to heaven except by Christ.

I have had a very supernatural experience, where God sent his Arch Angel Michael to assign to me a life mission. My spirit was lifted out of my body and floated up towards this golden light where I heard this loud voice coming from all around me speaking in tongues. This happend when i was five but still i remember it clearly. I'm 13 now.

You know..I think about this and pray about this a lot..I was once in a religion that I was certain was the "truth"..grew up in it.then..grew up..and started to think for myself..started to research what I was taught as a child and young adult..and realized that is wasn't the truth..But..I wonder..why do so many people of all different religions all think they have the truth..they can't all be right..but they all are so certain..I have come to realize and think that the truth lives inside of each Christian..living the life of a Christian..having faith in Jesus as our Savior..trusting God with all of your heart..being a true Christian as best as one can..telling others about Christ..I don't go to any church any longer..I don't know which ones to trust....I do enjoy listening to preachers on TV from time to time..but I get most of my spiritual upbuilding from reading the Bible myself and prayer and helping others come to know Jesus.

...I love his or her answer..Its true..once you recieve the Holy Spirit..It changes everything ..You know you have it..and everything becomes so clear..as who God is..and what he wants from us ..and what we need from him.

Because, it isn't religion. God is Truth, and he is not a religion, and neither am I. No-one has seen God, and yes, I have heard his voice, many times. He is wonderful! Try HIM, you will be awe-struck.

Jesus is Lord.

Bless You

You can't be sure as far as proof...that is why it is called FAITH. If there were proof then it would not be as meaningful. Despite what people say, what is your truth is not someone else's truth. There can only be ONE truth..whatever it is. Pick wisely.

the truth lies in the ear of the listener. He who hears the truth will know it to be truth. some rely on their "little voice inside" others rely on past experiences.
